For go viral on TikTok, an essential component is originality. And a very quick way to get noticed is to share that awesome trick you discovered for making photons. As always, there are good tricks and bad tricks, but today we are going to put aside what works and we are going to have a laugh with those virals that there is nowhere to take them.
The drunken couple technique
This viral was started by the photographer Myriam Ménard, who uploaded a video to the network in which she asked a couple to go down a hill as if they were drunk. The result was 15 million viewsso the rest of the users have not been slow to copy this ‘technique’.

Someone found out that placing a stocking in front of the target gave a pretty cool effect, and that it is even used in film shoots. And, how could it be otherwise, many TikTok users were encouraged to try.
However, this technique is a bit more complex, which is why many complain that they do not get good results. In film cameras, this effect is done with a stocking, but placing the fabric between mount and lens, not in the front. When simulating fog, it also tends to fog up the rear lens of the objective – there you have a guy free, though be careful.
Scratch your objective lens
This is what the tiktoker @illumitatiana did. He grabbed his Canon 50mm 1.8 and gave it a good go over it with a stone to achieve an effect that I had seen in a video by @video.andres.
The result is cool, yes, but you don’t have to be very bright to realize that you didn’t have to destroy a lens to do that. In fact, @video.andres originally scratched a UV filter that he placed on his target, and that will cost less than 10 euros.
The photo to the target
Those who did not destroy their target in the previous trick found a new utility. Instead of putting it on a camera and taking photos, it seems to be more interesting take a photo of the subject itself as part of a landscape. This trick is nothing original, but it has flown like wildfire. Everyone who more or less presumes to know how to take photos on TikTok has a photo like this – and everyone who doesn’t has the equivalent photo of him with a glass sphere. The tiktoker @Jordi.koalitic had the idea that he could simulate the effect of a drone using a gimbal and going around his town on skates. The result of his video is pretty good, but we can’t say the same about his imitators. Most of those who have copied the technique have not used a quality gimbal or do not have much experience in skating, and the results are horrible. Instead of appearing to be filming from a drone, what they convey is that they are filming from a tractor.
