5G roaming in Europe, it’s confirmed at Orange

The operator officially announced the good news, after enabling 5G roaming for several travelers in recent weeks. In detail, we will therefore have access to 5G in Spain, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Poland, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Latvia.

France lagging behind in 5G

And of course, at no additional cost. This is a European directive, recently renewed until 2032, which allows users to enjoy 3G, 4G and now 5G roaming everywhere in the countries of the Union. Orange has yet to finalize agreements with other operators to activate 5G in their countries, but it is only a matter of time. And the other French operators will also offer the same thing in the long term.

As for the deployment of this new network, the results are mixed for France. According to the Speedtest report provided by Ookla, France is ranked 24th in the world for the availability of 5G to the population. In detail, 10.4% of the population has access to it, far behind the United States (49.2%), the Netherlands (45.1%) or even South Korea (43.8% )!

In terms of median speed, in the third quarter of the year France posted a speed of 242.43 Mb / s (in Paris), against 492.48 Mb / s in South Korea, 426.75 Mb / s in Norway and 409.96 Mb / s in the United Arab Emirates.
