a connected guitar to learn and play with the whole world

Samsung is still developing many tools, far from its original home port. This is particularly the case with this guitar.

It’s become a habit in the tech world. Every year before CES, Samsung organizes its “C-lab” a concentrate of concepts of all kinds which should, according to the South Korean brand, make the future of new technologies.

If the promised technological revolutions do not always take place, Samsung’s findings are always interesting to follow and the brand remains one of the world leaders when it comes to innovation.

This year, one project attracted more attention than the others. This is ZamStar. The latter is actually made up of two parts, a hardware and a software. The first thing that jumps out is this guitar, which seems to have nothing to do in the middle of the Korean giant’s smartphones and other televisions.

A guitar and an app to play with the whole world

But this instrument is not like the others. Indeed, it is ZamString, a connected guitar invented by Samsung to make learning more intuitive. Another very cool feature that Samsung offers is the ability to connect and play music with people from all over the world.

This idea had already appeared during the first confinement, which forced music lovers to stay warm in their apartments. The musicians thus found themselves on video call applications to play together, but these solutions not being particularly suited to musical practice, the result was closer to cacophony than to a real concert.

Samsung therefore took advantage of the year 2021 to study the subject and offer a guitar that can allow musicians to play in real time with other people around the world, linked together by an application.

Learn the basics helped by new technologies

Finally, the guitar has also been designed to make learning this stringed instrument easier. As is already the case with pianos, Samsung has placed small LEDs in the neck of its guitar to illuminate the notes to be played and thus give the musician the correct position of the hand to adopt. While this concept in itself is not new, other guitars of this genre already exist on the market, it is interesting to see how Samsung is able to tackle all areas of new technology.

In the rest of Samsung’s “C-Labs”, the Korean firm also presented an AI-based application to teach children how to use their smartphone better: Piloto.
