Disney plans to entrust the first role of the series Star Wars: The Acolyte to Amandla Stenberg. She has been seen in The Hunger Games before.
The Star Wars universe continues to recruit. The license, which now focuses its efforts on the small screen, still has many projects in its boxes. If the next appointment is scheduled for December 29th with The Book of Boba Fett, things are not going to slow down in the next few months. We should find the long awaited Obi-wan kenobi from this year, as well as the spin-off of Rogue one : Andor.
Disney and Lucasfilm are also developing a series that will immerse us in the High Republic. Indeed, after having explored every nook and cranny of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars will take a trip down memory lane, nearly 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Not much is known yet about the plot, other than that it will be a thriller that is expected to follow a female main character.
Disney announced the project in December 2020, but it’s Variety which provides some details on the casting. According to the American media, the firm with the big ears is in discussion with Amandla Stenberg. If nothing has been officially announced yet, things would have started pretty well.
From the Hunger Games to Star Wars
At only 23 years old, Amandla Stenberg already has a great career behind her. After taking his first steps in Colombiana, the American actress makes a first appearance in the teenage saga Hunger games. She will then land the main roles in The Hate U Give and Darkest Mind: Rebellion. You’ve probably seen it in The Eddy, series from the director of La La Land and which aired last summer on Netflix.
For when ?
The program for the next few months is rather vague for Disney + productions. Like its competitors, the platform prefers to keep the release dates of its series secret until the last moment. Star Wars: The Acolyte should not disembark right away, however. We imagine that if the actors have not all been recruited yet, the shooting should not start for a little while.
