A620 chipset motherboards for AMD AM5 are here

Good news for users on a budget who want to jump to Ryzen 7000 with an A620 chipset motherboard, the cheapest gateway to the new generation of AMD chips. At this point we must remember that the company’s proposal for the AM5 chips is that they must, necessarily, share the banner with PCIe 5 and DDR5, something that inevitably raises the final price of assembling a team based on this architecture.

However, as we can read in Wccftech, AMD and its partners have finally announced the arrival of the long-awaited motherboards with the A620 chipset for AM5and also we will not have to wait long for it, because hand in hand with this communication, the main manufacturers have already revealed their motherboard models that mount this new chipset, and although there are still no official prices, everything indicates that they will be positioned around 100 dollars in the United States, something that we expect here to translate into between 100 and 120 euros.

We already knew about this chipset for a long time, as it was announced by AMD in June of last year and, since then, we have been waiting for the arrival of the first motherboards that had it. A leak back in January gave us a preview of GIGABYTE models, and just a couple of days ago ASRock narrowly anticipated the official announcement of the A620 launch, with the introduction of its ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2, the first motherboard. base with A620 chipset to hit the market.

Now, with the official confirmation of the debut of this new platform, the cheapest to make the jump to AM5, the offer is increased substantially, since several manufacturers have already announced their boards with this new chipset. We review them below.

ASRock

The day before yesterday we heard about a board with the A620 chipset, but today we learned that the company has actually released at least four motherboards, A620M Pro RS WIFI, A620M Pro RS, A620M-HDV/M.2+ and A620M-HDV/M .2. The first two motherboards allow the use of four DIMMs, while the last two are limited to two.

This brand has announced the Pro A620M-E which features a dual DIMM design and which it also supports overclocking of DDR5 EXPO memory.

Let’s remember that the two main limitations of the A620 chipset, if we compare it with its “big brothers”, are that the A620 only supports PCIe 4.0, while the B650 supports PCIe 5.0, and that it does not have USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, only USB 3.2 Gen 2×1. Two limitations that, in reality, do not have a considerable impact on the market segment to which these boards are directed, so this will not be a problem for their users.
