Acer unveils new touchscreen Chromebooks and more

The annual CES technology show taking place right now wouldn’t be itself if a company like Acer hadn’t unveiled new Chromebooks. And yes, this time was no exception, because the aforementioned manufacturer is going to announce a new trio of devices, two of which are expected to go on sale no earlier than June 2022. And perhaps right away it should be said that the most intriguing of the freshly presented new products is the new version of the Chromebook Spin 513, which in its essence is one of Acer’s mid-range options.

And despite the fact that the company has been selling several different configurations of the Spin 513 for some time now, this particular new model has a rather unusual processor on board. The bottom line is that in its new configuration, the Spin 513 has an eight-core MediaTek Kompanio 1380 processor that works in conjunction with 8 gigabytes of RAM, as well as up to 128 gigabytes of storage. And in the very case, assuming that the above-named processor is indeed capable of withstanding a medium-high load and not focusing on it specifically, then the Chromebook Spin 513 has other advantages.

Thus, this year’s model is equipped with a 13.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 2256 × 1504 pixels, an aspect ratio of 3: 2, just like the Chromebook Spin 713. The new Spin 513 is quite nice – $ 599. And although this price is still quite considerable, it should be borne in mind that we do not yet know what exactly the processor named above is capable of. So perhaps the novelty does not even deserve the above amount. Anyway, as the name suggests, the new Flip 513 is also notable for the fact that it has a hinge, thanks to which the display can be reclined 360 degrees. And this is really very convenient, because due to this, the laptop can be extremely easily and quickly switched to tablet mode, as well as to the so-called “tent” mode for watching videos.

However, in order to personally feel this new product, you need to wait a bit – the Spin 513 will go on sale only in June. Well, if we talk about the other two new Chromebooks from Acer, then at their core they are even more budget options, whose cost is $ 299. But going deeper, the 2022 Chromebook 315 is a 15.6-inch laptop with 1080p, optional touchscreen, Intel Celeron or Pentium Silver processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and around 10 hours of battery life. On the other hand, the latest novelty, the Chromebook 314, is a copy of the 315, but with a few minor differences. This means that it has a smaller 14-inch screen with the same 1080p resolution. The Chromebook 315 will go on sale this month in the United States of America, while the 314 will only be available in June.
