Activision Blizzard confirms that Warcraft will come to mobile devices in 2022

In its press release on the financial results of the fourth quarter of 2021, Activision Blizzard has revealed that it has plans to launch multiple installments of Warcraft for mobile sometime this year. Unfortunately, this announcement has been mostly for really vague information, with really scarce details.

It was Bobby Kotick himself, still CEO of the company, who shared with investors a year ago that the developer was already creating «multiple free mobile Warcraft experiences« which were already in advanced development at the time. Information that has been repeated this time with the only addition of an undetermined date for this year. So it’s unclear if their release plans include all of those experiences or just a few, or exactly what each of them is about.

Blizzard is planning Substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and putting all-new mobile Warcraft content in the hands of players for the first time” declared the company in its official statement.

However, although it is not known what this completely new content will be, there are many rumors that it will be some simplified experiences of its well-known franchise, possibly with some portable version of his strategy classics. Although some rumors from the past have also resurfaced, such as the possibility of the arrival of a game similar to Pokémon Gobased on GPS location as a basic factor.

Unfortunately, details remain scant, with the only advance from Kotaku, who claim that one of the ongoing projects was being developed by the same team that was formed when co-founder Allen Adham returned to the company in 2016, also in charge of the development of the mobile title Diablo Immortal due out this year.
