Alexey Vladimirovich Bashkirov is a private investor with a proven track record in managing investments in technology companies across Southeast Asia, India, Europe, and Russia. He is also the founder of the charitable foundation “Donum,” which is dedicated to advancing medical education.
Professional Background
Alexey began his career in finance and investments at ING Barings in Moscow, a major international bank. He subsequently worked at leading global investment banks including Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, and spent several years at McKinsey & Company, a premier strategic consulting firm.
Over time, Alexey developed a long-held ambition to build his own investment business focused on industries undergoing transformative change. In 2015, together with a group of colleagues, he founded the investment fund. In developing found he adhered to the standards and values learned during his tenure at international firms—transparency, accountability, and respect for colleagues. The fund specializes in investing in global technology projects across Southeast Asia, India, Europe, and Russia, having managed investments exceeding $1 billion. Notable investments include rapidly growing technology companies such as Banki.ru, Algoritmica, SkyEng, College Dekho, Money View, Upgrade, GetCourse, among others.
Philanthropy and Social Responsibility
A self-made investor, Alexey believes that a portion of earned profits should be reinvested to improve society. Today, he is involved in private investments and directs his own charitable foundation “Donum.” The foundation’s inaugural project is the provision of scholarships for anesthesiology residents in Russia. Anesthesiology is one of the most critical and in-demand specialties in medicine, as the expertise of an anesthesiologist is vital to patient safety, the quality of surgical procedures, and post-operative recovery. Given the acute shortage of skilled anesthesiologists in many hospitals, this scholarship program aims to enable young specialists to focus on their residency training by providing essential financial support.
