What is Adidas x Pokémon?
On January 1, 2020, Adidas published on its website the start of a collaboration with The Pokémon Company. The sports brand was partnering with pocket monsters for the first time, and introducing a new line of products designed to appeal to all Pokémon fans: from those who enjoyed the first generations on the Game Boy and yearn for that fantastic 8-bit style like the youngest and most recent fans.
We could consider that Adidas x Pokémon is made up of two collections. On the one hand, the youth versionwith the Advantage shoes and the Hooops Mid 2.0, with details in Pokemon pixel art. On the other hand, the adult collection features the running style Phosphere series shoes, the Lite Racer and some sneakers Advantage. There are several models with different Pokémon and details on the tongue. It is complemented with t-shirts and sweatshirts with narrow cuffs that make a nod to the clothes of the coaches from both the video game and the anime series that we saw on television.
The vice president of Adidas was very satisfied with this collection. Although in the rise of Pokémon, carry merchandise of this franchise was synonymous with being pointed with the finger, Bernhard Serr believes that streetwear consists of making yourself noticed and fearlessly showing the world your tastes and lifestyle. These three models of sneakers They are so far the only Pokémon products that have been launched for the youngest.
Hoops 2.0 MID Jr. Pikachu
We start with a tall boot, designed to play basketball. The shoe simulates to be the shoe used by soccer players. Kanto national team basketball, because it has a label with the name of the region on the heel. The product is finished in Two colors: white and dark blue, with a red sole. On the inside we see the silhouette of the franchise’s mascot, a Pikachu that contrasts with the previously mentioned colors.
Pokemon Hoops MID 2.0
In the same style is this second model, much more minimalist and with a really interesting finish. In the heel part we haves miniatures of the first generation starter Pokémon, with a very attractive pixelated style, and a selection of pastel colors very well done. The rest of the shoe is white, with the typical Adidas brand lines in black. The sole, however, it is from a mix of colors light blue, gray and yellowof a very rubbery and really curious style. The laces are white and the details of the collaboration are also in black on white, done in a very simple and elegant.
Advantage Jr. Pikachu
The Pikachu Advantage are the shoes more minimalist in this collection for young coaches. The product is completely white, with the Adidas lines in yellow, as if they were the classic thunderbolt from Ash’s Pokémon. On the inside we have a Very nice Pikachu that winks at us. The interior of the shoe is black, with the tongue showing the logo of the pocket creatures franchise and the heel in yellow with the Adidas logo.
Adidas x Pokémon: Adults
There are four models of Adidas shoes created for adults. a couple of series Lite Racertwo others in the series Advantageand finally, a minimalist and elegant black pair from the series Phosphere.
Lite Racer 2.0 Pokémon
If you have ever worn a Lite Racer, you will know how comfortable they are. The most common model is black or navy blue, and although there are up to 6 colors as a general rule, none is as cool as the Lite Racer version of Pikachu. The shoe is black, with the Adidas lines in white. Under the Adidas logo we have a yellow raywhile on the other hand we have Pikachu that runs at full speed made only with yellow and black tones on a white lightning.
The tongue has the Pokémon logo in color on a white background and the back has the Adidas logo in black on yellow respecting the same style that the Lite Racer usually have.
Advantage Pikachu 8 Bit
This model was leaked months before the collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Adidas was announced. It is also one of the coolest shoes in the entire collection. The product is made of a single layer of white leather, shiny and very well finished. The Adidas lines have become a very easy drilling and precise. On the other hand, we have Pikachu, with a ‘pixel art’ design. However, the interesting thing about this shoe is inside, because the lining of the shoe is composed of simple designs of first generation Pokémon. The overall finish is so cool that we wouldn’t be surprised if you were embarrassed to put them on and get them dirty.
Advantage Silhouettes
This second pair of the Advantage series has a very similar design to the previous one, but the Pokémon are not represented with a pixel design, but with simple gray strokeswhich we find only on the sole of the shoes.
phosphere pokemon
Following the same style as the Advantage, the Pokémon edition Phosphere are single black color. We will not see a single Pokémon in the fabric, but in the shoe lining. This model has Kanto Pokemon Silhouettes, both inside and on the sole of the shoe. The finish is very sober and it’s very much in the vein of the Adidas x Pokémon sweatshirts.
