Alpine A110s for the police!

Renault is once again relying heavily on Alpine, its very high-end sports brand, to appeal to the most demanding customers. And among these customers, one is very particular: it is indeed the national gendarmerie!

Alpine has started to deliver to the National Gendarmerie an order for 26 cars, A110 models, which in addition to their original equipment include specific fittings: screen printing, reflective marking, flashing light, horn, variable message sign, etc. .

Alpine “tuned” for the needs of the gendarmerie

For the gendarmerie, it is a question of having in its vehicle fleet vehicles capable of carrying out interventions on the motorway, which implies high-speed infringing cars. The A110s, which will be deployed within the rapid intervention teams, can also be used as part of road safety or judicial police missions, as for drug trafficking.

Two models will be specifically used for rapid response training. The A110 of the gendarmerie are assembled in Dieppe in Seine-Maritime, at the manufacturer’s headquarters, and they are equipped in Sallaumines (Pas-de-Calais) by the subcontractor Durisotti.

The A110 has a 252 horsepower engine, which allows it to achieve a 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is 250 km / h. The national and Alpine gendarmerie, it’s a long story: the first generation of the berlinetta was one of the first cars of the rapid intervention brigade (BRI) in the mid-1960s!

Since then, the BRI continued to trust Alpine with the A310 in the 70s and 80s, then moved to Renault models. This order is part of a process for the renewal of the police vehicle fleet, initiated by the Ministry of the Interior two years ago.
