Amazon Business launches Buy Local in Europe: proximity commerce is in fashion

Amazon Business has a new feature for its sellers, “Buy Local in Europe”. With this new tool, purchasing managers (CPOs) and their teams have the ability to identify vendors at the country or even city level, make local purchasing decisions, and invest in local businesses.

With Buy Local, Amazon Business enables you to quickly implement company-wide policies that highlight to preferred local vendors through custom local areas and price caps. All buyers in an organization can see the local purchase options among the different competitive offers, which ensures that large companies can have hundreds of employees follow the same purchasing policy and easily find local supplies.

Purchasing Management plays a strategic role in achieving the local purchasing objectives of an organization. In a recent Amazon Business survey, 90% of purchasing executives said they invest in local businesses It was one of his goals.

Christopher Kallscheid, Country Manager of Amazon Business in Spain, indicated: “Sourcing products and services from local businesses offers great opportunity, but at the same time, it is challenging to change existing supply chains, especially within larger companies. Buy Local also includes access to the reporting tools of Amazon Business Analytics, so that any spending made locally can be easily tracked, managed and reported against corporate and team goals. This gives purchasing managers the information they need to make faster, more strategic decisions. With real-time data, managers can drive progress toward local buying goals, streamline the process, plan for future budgets, and develop policies that help guide shopper spending.

In Spain, several customers already using Compra Local since its initial pre-launch are already spending more than a third (37%) of their budgets through this tool, with certain key industries leading the adoption of the feature. Industries like healthcare, education, construction, and technology are making use of the feature, allowing more and more employees to choose to support local businesses and buy from local vendors.

In addition, hundreds of customers across Europe, from industries such as leading universities, car manufacturers, and technology, are also using Amazon Business features such as Guided Purchase, that enables businesses to direct spend toward any number of priorities, or Amazon Business Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to automate time-consuming manual tasks, allowing shoppers to easily find and order supplies such as Climate Pledge Friendly products within your existing purchasing tools. These capabilities allow purchasing managers to set guided purchasing policies across the company, which can enable hundreds or even thousands of shoppers within each company to spend on more sustainable products. When combined with the launch of Buy Local, procurement managers have the ability to help their organizations meet a wide range of local procurement goals.
