Amazon Prime Video

All of us have opened a streaming app and browsed aimlessly to find a movie to watch. We will help you make up your mind. In this file, we’ve picked fifteen that stand out on Amazon Prime Video. Fifteen excellent films that will definitely make you have a good time.

Amazon Prime Video is full of great movies and it had to be decided. For this selection, we relied on the critical reception of productions (via the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes). We also tried to diversify the genres (the action being over-represented) in order to satisfy as many people as possible. Finally, we have also placed a few films that we love.

Note thatthere is no precise order. The first on the list is therefore no better than the second. Cinema is subjective, after all.

Here is the list of the fifteen movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video:

Gladiator (2000)

One of Ridley Scott’s greatest films, and arguably one of the best films in the Peplum genre. We follow the peregrinations of Maximus, a former Roman general who became a slave, then a gladiator. A breathtaking revenge story that won five Oscars in 2001. An absolute classic.

Rain Man (1988)

Charlie, an ambitious young man with long teeth, embarks on a road trip across the United States with Raymond, his autistic brother. Its goal ? To recover the inheritance of which he considers himself wronged. One of the first big roles of Tom Cruise in the cinema in a film as touching as it is funny. Perfect for a family night out.

The Lord of the Rings (2001, 2002, 2003)

Is it still useful to present this cult saga, pillar of fantasy and popular cinema of the 2000s? The three parts are available on Prime Video, enough to make a marathon under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate. Please note that these are cinema versions, not long versions.

Arrival – Premier Contact (2016)

The aliens land on Earth and the government sends linguist Louise Banks to establish contact. For his first foray into science fiction, Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner, Dune) signs a film that is at once grandiose, intelligent and intimate, far from the clichés of the genre.

Back to the Future (1985)

Name of Zeus, Marty! Back to the Future is on Prime Video! It is high time to relaunch this classic with the family! In addition, the second and third part are also available! It is the foot !

The Wolf of Wolf Street (2013)

When Scorsese stages the excesses of finance, it hits the mark, it hits hard. A huge film carried by a Leonardo Di Caprio at his best.

Interstellar (2014)

Earth is dying and NASA sends Cooper to seek a new home for humanity. This epic by Christopher Nolan was designed to be seen on the big screen, but nothing prevents you from enjoying it from the softness of your sofa.

Mad Max Fury Road (2015)

One of the greatest action movies ever to be made. George Miller brings his Mad Max back to life in a flamboyant, violent and enjoyable way. A wild two-hour rodeo that leaves you exhausted. Don’t forget to turn the volume up.

Her (2013)

A somewhat peculiar love film, since it tells the romance between a man and his vocal assistant. A touching film, but also melancholy that questions our relationship to technology.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Considered by many to be the best superhero film in history, The Dark Knight marked in particular with its Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger. A huge thriller to discover or rediscover. Note that the other films of Nolan’s trilogy are also available on the platform.

Jurassic Park (1993)

A true revolution in terms of special effects, Jurassic Park has changed everything in the world of blockbusters, in addition to making a generation of kids passionate about dinosaurs. Its presence on Prime Video is a good opportunity to relaunch it. A classic.

The Big Lebowski (1998)

This comedy has become cult thanks to its colorful characters and its lines that hit the mark. The quintessence of the Coen brothers’ cinema.

The Revenant (2015)

The film that allowed Leonardo Di Caprio to finally win an Oscar. The Revenant tells us the story of the trapper Hugh Glass who, in 1823, had to cross part of wild America on his own after being left for dead. A hard, rough film, but also contemplative.

Matrix (1999)

While the fourth installment is talking about him, why not review the first Matrix? The other two installments of the original trilogy are also available on the platform. Welcome to the real world.

Shrek 2 (2004)

If the first part (also available on Prime Video) had installed the franchise, this second episode sublimates it. There is one gag per second and cult lines. A classic from the animated film.

Of course, there are plenty of other great movies on Amazon Prime Video. Do not hesitate to let us know in the comments those that are worth a look, whether it is a known blockbuster or an unknown nugget.
