AMD guarantees the stock of RX 7000 and Ryzen 7000, when will they arrive?

There are rumours, many rumors about what AMD will do with its new graphics cards and processors, but although here we have dealt with various supply issues and the global situation of semiconductors, little has been said about this with respect to more or less imminent launches. We could think, will there be stock? Well, in the case of AMD Lisa Su spoke very clearly about what they expect in this 2022.

A new era, that’s what AMD hopes to start this year with the launch of two of its key sectors in the industry: gaming GPUs and processors for gamers. After the financial data for the fourth quarter of 2022, the CEO of AMD released some very interesting statements about how the sector is doing and the forecasts for new generation graphics cards and processors.

AMD Radeon RX 7000 and Ryzen 7000 CPUs confirmed

It seemed obvious from the company’s roadmap, but there was still no even doubtful statement on the part of any member of AMD about this. As usual in the last two years, secrecy is increasing as time goes by, so you always have to read between the lines, as is the case in Lisa Su’s statements:

Demand for our products is very strong, and we look forward to another year of significant growth and profit sharing as we build on our current products and launch our next wave of CPU Zen 4 Y RDNA 3 GPU. We have also made significant investments to ensure the capacity necessary to support our growth in 2022 and beyond.

We’ve been working in the supply chain for the last four or five quarters, knowing the growth that we have from a product standpoint and the visibility that we have from customers. So with respect to the 2022 supply environment, we have made significant investments in wafer capacity as well as substrate capacity and back-end capacity.

We feel very good about our supply chain progress to meet the 2022 guidance. And our goal is, quite frankly, to have enough supply to meet demand.

We feel good about the progress we’ve made on PC and will continue to make sure we match sales so inventory doesn’t build up in the store.

We are always in this for the long haul and we work with our supply chain partners as well as our customers to make sure we find a way to share additional costs. But our focus is on ensuring that we have the supply to meet the high demand.

There is not much to add to Dr. Lisa Su’s statements, but you do have to focus the lens a little more to understand what is happening. First of all, TSMC is somewhat behind schedule as its N5 node should be on launch ramp now, or at least very close to it.

It may be accumulation of stock, it may be problems due to power outages suffered in China and Taiwan or it may be a combination of factors, it is not at all clear, but the fact is that the rumors say that the Ryzen 7000 CPUs and the RX 7000 GPUs they will arrive for end of the yearwhich is a problem.

Mainly because NVIDIA should also suffer delays when node sharing and this would leave Intel with oxygen to launch Raptor Lake and ARC Alchemist, as well as a possible refresh (or new architecture directly, Druid) of the latter in case it is needed with the second evolution of the Intel 7 (10nm++). What we are clear with Su’s confirmation is that the red team will arrive with its new products this year, but they must be faster if they really want to gain market share from their rivals.
