AMD to launch Radeon RX 6500 XT with 4 GB of VRAM, limit for 1080p

A new model of RX 6000 will soon bolster AMD’s ranks. Dubbed Radeon RX 6500 XT, the graphics card will be, according to Lenovo’s listing on Twitter, equipped with 4 GB of VRAM. In view of current video game standards, the GPU may have some difficulty in displaying 1080p on the most recent titles.

What is the most effective solution to counter a shortage? Some will say build factories, others will answer flood the market with new models. AMD seems to have opted for this second solution. Indeed, the leaker @KOMACHI_ENSAKA published this weekend a screenshot of a Lenovo listing, citing a graphics card hitherto unknown to the battalion: the Radeon RX 6500 XT.

This listing reveals, among other things, that the GPU will be equipped with 4 GB of VRAM, which is therefore, as its name suggests, a model rather located in the entry level. In addition, other sources have joined the leak to announce that the graphics card will also come with 1,024 shader cores, 16 ray accelerators and 112 GB / s memory bandwidth.

The Radeon RX 6500 XT, a rather weak entry-level model

In other words, this RX 6500 XT should, for comparison, show performance two times smaller than an RX 6000, if one relies only on its technical sheet. There is certainly a bright side to it. We can easily imagine that the price will agree with the latter, which should make a good introduction for players who have little regard for FPS and the level of detail.

On the other hand, it is clear that the graphics card may not really be up to current video game standards. On the most recent titles she should have hard to maintain 30 FPS at 1080 p, especially if the player ventures into the regions of ray tracing. Especially since the price, supposedly low, could well skyrocket because of the shortage, as has already been the case for the RX 6600.
