A leak ensures that AMD is preparing the launch of the Ryzen 5 5600X3Da very interesting processor that could give a new life to socket AM4, and that in relation to price-performance could become one of the best on the market, as long as everything that we are going to tell you below is fulfilled.
The Ryzen 5 5600X3D will be a version of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D configured with 6 cores and 12 threads, which means that it will have two cores and four threads less than the latter, and it will also have 1 MB less L2 cache (3 MB compared to 4 MB on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D). These changes will not be a problem, because in the end the important thing is that the Ryzen 5 5600X3D will come with 64 MB of 3D stacked L3 cache, which means that it will add a total of 96MB L3 cache.
That large amount of L3 cache will allow it to offer high performance in games, and thanks to its 6 core and 12 thread count it will meet the recommended level to move current titles in a totally optimal way. I remind you that the minimum level has now been set at 4 cores and 8 threads.
As it happens with all AMD processors that come with 3D stacked cache, their working frequencies will not be very high to avoid the working temperatures to skyrocket. This model will work 3.3GHz-4.4GHzthat is, at 100 MHz less than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
On average, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D’s gaming performance should be almost at the same level as that of a Ryzen 5 7600X. This would be very positive, because we are talking about a processor that we could mount without problems with a very cheap motherboard and DDR4 memory, while the Ryzen 5 7600X would have to be accompanied by a more expensive motherboard and DDR5 memory.
On the other hand, that Ryzen 5 5600X3D could also be a very attractive option for those users who want to upgrade a PC with socket AM4, and whose main objective is to play. We do not yet have a specific launch date, and the possible price of this processor has not yet been disclosed, but taking into account that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D costs 327 euros, the most reasonable thing to do is to place it in the range of 200-250 euros.
The Ryzen 5 5600X3D will be based on Zen 3which means that it will come manufactured in the 7 nm node and that it will have the IPC typical of the Ryzen 5000 series, although thanks to its greater amount of L3 cache it will offer superior gaming performance.
