AMD’s weapons for the RX 6600 XT: 8GB, Infinity Cache, and 2.9GHz?

Although this graphics card has been around the wave of rumors for a while, it was on this occasion that the ECC has confirmed its existence and its VRAM through up to 8 GIGABYTE models. These graphics cards will be integrated into the manufacturer’s line and according to the rumors that have accompanied this leak we would be talking about a more than interesting GPU. Will it be able to compete against the RTX 3060?

AMD RX 6600 XT, equals the mid-range bet of its rival

AMD Navi 2X Cover

The truth is that this model will have nothing less than the Navi 23 XT chip, which has already been named on some occasion and of which there are already filtered specs based on rumors that claim to know it well. Therefore, we would have 2048 Shaders, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs, where what is most surprising is that AMD is not going to do without the Infinity Caché in any way.

This RX 6600 XT will have a whopping 32 MB IF and with this it is a third of what its imminently superior sister RX 6700 XT has with only a fifth less of its Shaders. Therefore, many rumors have speculated on a balance that could be poor in performance were it not for AMD planning a more ambitious strategy for this GPU.

And it would be the first GPU that would reach a level never seen before: almost 3 GHz.

Heart attack frequencies with reduced consumption?

RX 6000 range

According to the models that have been leaked from GIGABYTE and the rumors that circulate with them, we would be talking about 8 models with really interesting features:

  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming OC PRO (GV-R66XTGAMINGOC PRO-8GD)
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming PRO (GV-R66XTGAMING PRO-8GD)
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming (GV-R66XTGAMING-8GD)
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming OC (GV-R66XTGAMING OC-8GD)
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Eagle OC (GV-R66XTEAGLE OC-8GD)
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 XT Eagle (GV-R66XTEAGLE-8GD)

And it is that apart from what has been mentioned so far, we are talking about consumption that would very little exceed 100 watts, which would be less than half than its older sister for only a fifth less than Shaders. Also, it would have a memory bus of only 128 bits for a bandwidth with its GDDR6 of 16 Gbps of 256 GB / s in total.

Therefore, these GPUs target the 1080p market in high FPS or 2K in medium settings, surprising if possible how this mid-range series is going to evolve. On the prices, they are not confirmed, but surely they will have nothing to do with those of yesteryear for the moment that we live with a shortage of chips.
