an 85-inch mini-LED and 8K TV at TCL

TCL is betting more than ever on the mini-LED for its televisions. At CES, the manufacturer unveiled a new 85-inch model for its XL range, incorporating the third generation of its OD Zero backlight technology.

TCL was one of the first manufacturers to really embark on the mini-LED: in 2018, the group presented its first prototype of a television equipped with this technology which provides much more efficient backlighting to LCD screens thanks to thousands of small diodes ( the famous mini-LEDs). It can display almost infinite contrasts and offers a very good brightness essential for HDR content.

During CES, TCL unveiled a new television with the third generation of its mini-LED technology, dubbed OD Zero (“OD” for ” optimal depth “). The manufacturer promises that this new generation reduces light leakage and further improves brightness.

This television, the X925Pro, has an 85-inch panel. This is the new top of the range XL range which includes models over 80 inches. The device, which runs on Google TV, has another advantage that fans of very high definition will snatch up: it is not only IMAX Enhanced certified, but also 8K! Of course, Dolby Vision is in the game as is Dolby Atmos.

The TV also features a camera, all in a thickness of just 10mm. Unfortunately, TCL did not give a price or an availability date, but a fairly high price should be expected despite the manufacturer’s desire to remain in a good quality / price ratio.
