An unpublished video shows the recording set of Back to the Future II

Back to the past

In 1989 no one had mobile phones, much less walked down the street with a camera in hand. That pot was used only at very special times on the calendar such as birthdays, anniversaries, parties or celebrations that we were clear that we wanted to remember after time. At most, by the end of that decade we had the first home video cameras and not exactly those compact onesbut rather models to carry on the shoulder, as if we were ENG cameras of the kind that are installed in the mobile units that cover the most important events for television.

Well, it was now when the fans of the back to the future movies They have found a treasure uploaded to YouTube and that has the form of a home recording in which you can see how a person who managed to work in the production of 20th Century Fox, decided to take a walk through the scenarios that would form the Hill Valley of the year 2015 in fiction. You know, the main square of that small town where Marty McFly, Doc Emmett Brown and Biff Tannen, among others, live.

The video is so amazing that you can see every part of the stage before the director, his technical team and the cast of actors start shooting and, more importantly, without the huge number of props that would later appear in Back to the Future Part II. This is the case, for example, of the 1980s bar, which has no seats, no tables, no Pepsi pumps, no televisions, no arcade machines, no nothing. Everything is like new (you can even hear the workers in the background banging).

An incunable material

Surely, if the internet and social networks had existed in 1989, such a recording would have been considered a serious leak and the production company would have contemplated suing the person responsible but, luckily for him, spreading this material beyond his personal circle at that time. it was a complicated task. Moreover, after 33 years, it is very possible that someone who worked on the film came to thank him for filming, for that of contemplating how a movie set as iconic as the one in Back to the Future Part II.

And the piece is not wasted. You can see the Texaco service station, the highway on which the flying cars of that year 2015 take off and land, the old closed stores that were already in the original film, the vending machines that barely pay attention in some shots, the lake built in the center of the square and, of course, samples of the many DeLoreans that were built for each supposed in which the time machine appears in the movie.

An extraordinarily valuable material that you can enjoy now and that will remind you how great and wonderful cinema is, right?
