Google has just rolled out a new update to Android Auto. This update mainly fixes a bug reported by many users, which prevented displaying notifications on the control screen.

Like any OS, Android Auto has its share of various bugs and issues. Recently, users have encountered quite a few issues with Google Maps. First, they had the right to reset the app every 5 minutes (not necessarily practical when you want to take advantage of navigation), then there was the pure and simple disappearance of Google Maps on Android Auto . Reportedly, Google Maps was no longer accessible after the 7.2 update.

Fortunately, these concerns around the mapping app have been resolved. Only, it was only a lull. Since November 2021, many users have been complaining about stop receiving notifications on their control screen. In fact, it is impossible to quickly read the messages received, for example, or alerts from Waze or Coyote, for example.

More notifications on Android Auto

Here is what an aggrieved user posted on the official forum of Android Auto : “My vehicle (Mercedes with Command) had no problem seeing text messages on my Pixel 4 XL before the Android 12 update, but now it’s not working. SMS messages are enabled in the Bluetooth settings, but the phone shows a connection error. I’ve tried restarting it, disconnecting and reconnecting, forgetting and adding again, but nothing works. Has anyone encountered this problem before and is there a solution?

Another user explains that he is the victim of the same problem with his Galaxy S21: “I bought a new phone, the Galaxy S21. Since then, I no longer receive my SMS via Android Auto! My job is remote, so the majority of texts I receive are work-related. I really need to be able to hear when someone needs my help, and I certainly don’t want to cause injury, damage or worse because I inadvertently look at my smartphone.” he says.

We do not know the cause of this malfunction, but anyway, Google has just announced on the Android Auto forum that its teams have corrected the problem. “The team has implemented a patch to resolve the issue. Please make sure your Android Auto app and Messages app are updated to the latest version.” assures the firm of Mountain View.
