Apple Store Russia

A few days ago, Ukraine invited the Cupertino-based company to shut down both the Mac App Store and the App Store in Russia, a move that Apple was obviously not willing to go through as it would harm all its clients and not the Russian government that uses free software.

The only move it has made on the App Store is remove RT News and Sputnik News apps of all Apple Stores outside of Russia.

With the first sanctionsApple, like Google, suspended the operation of their digital payment platforms.

The next step has been stop selling all your products through the Apple Store Online. At this time, the Apple Store online is closed, just like when it is updating to add new products.

In addition, and following in the footsteps of Google, Tim Cook’s company has stopped showing the traffic information and incidents in the race.

Tim Cook’s letter to employees

Tim Cook has sent a letter to all his employees to express their concern and to inform them of the measures that the company is taking to help non-governmental organizations that collaborate with Ukraine.

I know I speak for everyone at Apple in expressing our concern for everyone affected by the violence. With each new image of families fleeing their homes and brave citizens fighting for their lives, we see how important it is for people around the world to come together to further the defense of peace.

Apple is assisting in humanitarian relief efforts and providing aid for the unfolding refugee crisis. We are also working with partners to assess what else we can do.

I know many of you are eager to find ways to support too, and we want to help amplify the impact of your donations.

Starting today, Apple will match your donations 2:1 to eligible organizations, and will do so retroactively for donations to those organizations beginning February 25.
