Apple continues to dominate the wireless headphone market despite its drop in sales

Shipments of Apple’s AirPods range and Beats range fell more than 30% in the third quarter of 2021Even so, the Cupertino-based company continues to lead the market for wireless headphones, according to the guys from Canalys in the latest report they have published.

According to a new report from Canalys, Apple shipped 17.8 million True Wireless devices, a category that includes AirPods, AirPods Pro and the Beats range, during the last quarter of 2021. These numbers represent 33.7% less in the same period of the previous year, down from the 26.8 million units shipped.

However, despite the considerable drop in the number of shipments, which may have several factors such as the wide range of models available on the market and that many users were waiting for the launch of the new generation, AirPods 3, Tim Cook’s company sIt is still leading the market, with a market share of 24.6%.

In second place, there is Samsung, which includes the wireless models of the Harman branch, with a 12% market share in the third quarter, with an increase of 10.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Behind Samsung were brands like Xiaomi, boAt and Edifier with a share of 6.8%, 3.8% and 3.8% respectively. The rest of the brands that offer wireless headphones (True Wireless) accounted for the remaining 49%.

Overall, global shipments of TWS devices increased only slightly between Q3 2020 and Q3 2021. The entire market recorded shipments reaching 72.2 million units in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of approximately 1.3% year-over-year from 71.3 million shipments.

From Canalys they expect the entire market return to normal growth for the holiday season, and that the AriPods once again increase their market share, after the launch in October of the third generation AirPods, a model that has a new design and audio features.
