In this past second quarter of this year, Apple has fallen from fourth to fifth place in the world market for personal computers. It is not a fact that worries much in Cupertino, since there are reasons to think that he will soon recover the lost fourth place.

First, because the entire market in general has suffered a puncture in sales this second quarterand the second and most important for Apple is that it has an ace up its sleeve that is going to make sales rise like foam in the third quarter of this year.

IDC has released estimated sales data for the major PC manufacturers in the second quarter of this year. And said data indicates that computer sales worldwide fell by 15.3% compared to the same quarter last year, and Mac sales fell 22.5% comparing the same data between the second quarter of 2021 and the same quarter of 2022.

These figures indicate that this has been the second consecutive quarter of lower sales after two consecutive years of growth. The drop in sales has been worse than expected due to pandemic lockdowns of manufacturers’ employees in China and negative macroeconomic news due to the world inflation.

But in Cupertino they are calm. It should also be borne in mind that one of the factors in the drop in sales of Macs is that Apple users are waiting like water in May for the launch of the new MacBook Air M2.

Undoubtedly this new Apple laptop that is already on sale in advance, with deliveries starting this Friday, will make this third quarter the numbers of units sold for Macs they are going to go up like foam.
