At the moment, those of Cupertino are going to cost a whopping of 50 million dollars between lawyers (13.6 million), trial costs (2 million), administrative costs (1.4 million) and compensation.

That is what Edward Dávila, the federal district judge who was handling the case of the joint lawsuit against Apple of the victims for the use of a MacBook with faulty keyboard. Almost nothing.

Said set of affected plaintiffs will begin to receive individual compensation ranging from 50 to 395 dollars. This will be collected by the plaintiffs from California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Washington, who claimed that Apple knew and concealed that the MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro from 2015 and later had defective “butterfly” keyboards and that after to be repaired failed again.

The problem for users came when Apple detected this bug in “butterfly” keyboards and launched a keyboard repair program in June 2018. This campaign only covered the models MacBook, macbook pro and macbook air for four years.

With the aggravating circumstance that Apple’s repair program was not enough, since Apple changed the butterfly keyboards for another new butterfly keyboard, and after a short time they failed again. Thus, the group of plaintiffs has gotten away with it, and they will receive a small compensation for the problems caused.
