Apple seems determined to offer a button-free experience on the iPhone 15

It seems that Manzana is determined to standardize the experience it offers across the different iPhone lines. After the possible arrival of Dynamic Island to all the models of the series iPhone 15now we echo that the giant of the bitten apple would have considered the use of solid-state buttons on all devices.

The concept of “solid state button” may sound a bit confusing, so let’s define it briefly. Basically, what it comes to mean is that Apple would use sensors instead of physical buttons that can be pushed and clicked, which is usually the norm in smartphones. In other words, it is assumed that the iPhone 15 will not use “common” buttons or possibly suppress some of them. You know, as long as there is no information or official confirmation from Apple, it is important to take this information with a grain of salt.

Solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 and the compatibility they will have with third-party cases

As reported by Twitter user ShrimpApplePro, the alleged solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 are very well designed, so shouldn’t be a problem for third-party case designers. Apple has traditionally not been especially open to third parties offering alternative accessories for their products, especially when it comes to the iOS ecosystem. However, the corporation has long felt the encouragement of a growing number of users who complain about its restrictive policies, and that encouragement has been strong enough to turn into political actions and movements that also affect Google and Android.

In order for solid-state buttons to offer the same or as close functionality as possible to classic buttons, Apple would have made the decision to implement three taptic engines on iPhone 15 series smartphones. This would be accompanied by a broader refresh that would encompass a different layout of the battery and other components.

We will see what Apple presents in the end with the iPhone 15, but the company seems to be willing to introduce some important changes to be able to relaunch its smartphones, whose sales fell in the last quarter of 2022.
