According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple intends to rent a production campus in Los Angeles, presumably for Apple TV +. This audiovisual production center (46,000 m2) could exceed half a million square feet, since it needs enough space to produce multiple TV shows and movies.
The main reason that has led Apple to create its own recording studios are motivated by the scarcity available in the city of studios, and they are always usually booked months in advance by studios that need constant content production, which makes companies acquire the space for themselves directly or secure with leases that reserve the space for several years.
Mike Mosallam joined Apple in January of this year as chief executive of real estate production in Los Angeles, with the aim of supervising the company’s strategy in terms of production centers. He previously served as director of production planning and studio rentals for Netflix.
Apparently Apple hopes expand your presence in Hollywood with the opening of the campus. The company currently rents individual studios to film for Apple TV + in Los Angeles and other parts of the world, but a dedicated campus could streamline the production process and reinforce Apple’s commitment to competing with other video streaming services.
