Last year, leaker Jon Prosser announced that the Apple Watch Series 7 would adopt a new iPhone 12-style flat design, but the American manufacturer had experienced some setbacks just before the release of its watch. Indeed, while everything indicated that the watch was going to change its appearancewe learned that Apple had finally halted production just weeks before release after encountering issues with the new design.

Apple had finally unveiled with the iPhone 13 an Apple Watch Series 7 with a round design inherited from previous generations. This year would finally be the right one, according to new information from Jon Prosser and leaker @VNchocoTaco on Twitter. In effect, one of his sources would have seen a flat glass screen intended for a watch on the production lineswhich indicates that the project to release a watch with flat edges is relaunched.

The Apple Watch Series 8 should finally adopt a flat screen

Several months before the official announcement expected in the fall of 2022, Jon Prosser unveiled new renderings of the next Apple Watch Series 8. On the right side we find a main button as well as a crown that will allow you to navigate through the menus. On the left side, two long openings should house speakers.

We know that Apple should take advantage of this new design to equip its watch with a body temperature sensor, a first for a watch of this type. For Mark Gurman, journalist at Bloomberg, this tool would in particular facilitate fertility planningor to detect symptoms of a disease.

Either way, we should know more about Apple’s next watch soon. It should be noted that Apple is also preparing other models, including a more resistant “rugged” watch intended for extreme sports. Jon Prosser therefore does not exclude the possibility that this new design is that of this special version.
