Apple will launch a new iPad Mini later this year

Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most well-known and respected analysts in the Apple universe, is convinced that the apple company will launch a new iPad Mini later this year, and that its arrival could coincide with that of the new iPhone 15. If this is confirmed, we would be looking directly at the month of September, and probably its first two weeks.

Before continuing with this information, it is important to ask ourselves if this really makes sense, and the answer is a resounding yes. The current generation iPad Mini was launched on the market on September 14, 2021which means that this September it will be two years old, a renewal cycle that fits perfectly with the pace that the apple company has been following.

What leaves me with great doubts is the issue of its possible specifications. The 2021 iPad Mini uses an Apple A15 SoC, a chip that is still quite powerful, but is obviously not at the level of the M1 that we have seen in other Apple tablets, and is far from the current M2. The big question we must ask ourselves it is whether the 2022 iPad Mini will come with an Apple A16 SoC or if, on the contrary, we will see a model equipped with an M1 or M2 chip.

According to Kuo, the new iPad Mini will not bring major changes at the design level, and the most relevant improvements will be present at the hardware level. With this in mind, I think it would make a lot of sense for Apple to take the opportunity to introduce at least one M1 chip in its new tablet, since it would be an interesting improvement in terms of performance and would make it a more attractive option.

Other sources have commented that this new tablet could also have a ProMotion screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and that it will also come with a greater amount of RAM and storage capacity. The current model has only 4 GB of RAM, so It wouldn’t be crazy to see a new generation iPad Mini with 6 GB of RAM.
