The ASRock 4X4 BOX-5000 series is presented as a family of small-sized equipment that stands out for its simple but functional design, and for being able to offer a good level of performance. The chassis is clearly inspired by Intel NUCs, and despite their small size we see that they are capable of offering a wide range of connectors. We are going to review them in detail before entering to see their keys at the hardware level:
- 1x HDMI 2.0a.
- 1x DisplayPort 1.2a.
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (with DisplayPort 1.2a support).
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A.
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A.
- 1 x 2.5Gbps Ethernet.
- 1xGigabit Ethernet
- 1 x 3.5mm jack.
As far as wireless connectivity options are concerned, the ASRock 4X4 BOX-5000 family comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support. Its measurements are 110mm x 117.5mm and 47.85mm. At the hardware level, these new devices can be configured with a powerful Ryzen 7 5800U APUa chip that has an 8-core, 16-thread CPU based on the Zen 3 architecture, and has a Radeon RX Vega 8 GPU with 512 shaders.
The base configuration of the ASRock 4X4 BOX-5000 comes with a Ryzen 5 5600U APU, less powerful than the previous one but equally capable thanks to its 6-core and 12-thread CPU, and its Radeon RX Vega 7 GPU with 448 shaders. We have no details about the possible arrival of inferior models configured with Ryzen 3 APUs, but it is a possibility that we cannot rule out, at least for now.
All ASRock 4X4 BOX-5000 support up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM and allow mounting two storage units. The price of the cheapest model in its base configuration will be 559 dollars, a figure that at the exchange rate in euros would be about 553 euros with the current exchange rate (strong dollar at the time of writing this article).
