ASUS announces its best portable USB-C monitor… but without a price

Even though not everyone has room on their desk to use a dual or multi-monitor setup, it’s still really useful for almost everyone, whether for work or play, as it allows you to have the view several things at once. Now ASUS has announced the launch of its new ZenScreen OLED MQ16AHa portable monitor USB-C which represents the top of the manufacturer’s range in this category, but for some unknown reason, they have not announced their price launch… how high will it be?

A secondary monitor it is something really useful on a PC. If you’re working, it allows you to have an at-a-glance view of several things at once, like email on one screen and Excel on the other. For leisure, it is still very useful, since, for example, you can be playing on one screen and watching Discord or your OBS stream on the other. The downside is that not everyone has enough room to fit two of the same monitors on their desk, and that’s where portable monitors come into play.

ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH, your best USB-C monitor

As you may already guess since we are talking about a portable monitor, we are dealing with a monitor with USB-C connectivity, which already allows you to connect it to a PC or laptop using a single cable, without having to connect additional power. This is very comfortable, and not only because you will have fewer cables around, but because it limits the use of plugs and strips and, in addition, allows you to put it on and take it off comfortably to use it whenever and wherever you want.

And now, as you might guess from his name, this new member of the family ZenScreen from ASUS has a OLED matrix, which means that we are looking at a monitor with excellent color representation and that can be especially useful for creative users. It represents an update of the MB14AC model that they launched in 2020, updated with this new matrix that replaces the LED-IPS of its predecessor.

This OLED screen has a diagonal of 15.6 inches, so it corresponds to the notebook standard and can therefore be especially useful to use in combination with them. Its color accuracy is Delta E <2 with coverage of the 100% DCI-P3 color space10-bit color (1.07 billion colors), HDR-10, contrast ratio of 100,000 to 1 and maximum brightness of 360 cd/m2, with a peak of up to 400 cd/m2. By the way, your resolution is Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) with a 60Hz refresh rate and a response time of just 1ms (GtG).

As video inputs, we can connect a cable to this monitor mini hdmi (includes a mini HDMI to regular HDMI cable so you can connect it to a standard HDMI video output on a PC) and two USB-C inputs. Of course, you must bear in mind that if you use the mini HDMI connector as a video input for this monitor, you will be forced to give it additional power through USB-C, since that of using a cable for power and data is only possible through USB-C, not through HDMI. USB-C, by the way, supplies you with up to 20W of power.

Finally, it should be noted that its dimensions are 358.7 x 226.15 x 8.95 mm and that it weighs just 650 grams.

No release date or price

As we said in the title of this news, ASUS has not announced the price of this new ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH, although seeing the price of the rest of the brand’s USB-C monitors and taking into account its technical specifications that include screen OLED, most likely we are facing a product that when it is launched on the market will cost around 300 Euros. Of course, ASUS has not specified the launch date either, so we will have to wait to know these two unknowns.
