ASUS has expanded its catalog of computing machines under the Google operating system with a Chromebook CX34 Flip that happens to be one of the best convertibles produced for Chrome OS.
This model shares general characteristics with the Vive CX34 presented by ASUS at CES and which was dedicated to games, while the new model is for general computer use. Both confirm hardware level increase of Chromebooks and its construction quality and finishes, with the use of premium materials such as the aluminum of this model.
ASUS repeats the hinge design ErgoLift that the company uses in the ‘Flip’ models for Windows and that allows you to place the screen on top of the keyboard and use any type of angle in 360 degrees with the flexibility that this implies by being able to use it as a laptop, tablet and ‘tent’ modes in between for presentations or drawing/note-taking with your stylus. The convertible meets military-type test standards, MIL-STD 810H, against bumps and drops.
The screen is a Multi-touch IPS with NanoEdge panel Three-sided to maximize viewing area and screen-to-body ratio. Has 14 inches diagonal, WUXGA native resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) in 16:10 aspect ratio and with a refresh rate of 144hz. ASUS includes a stylus housed in a special recess in the chassis for storage and charging.
equip twelfth generation Intel processors with models like the Core i7-1255U, accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and a PCIe NVMe solid state drive of up to 512 Gbytes. Also interesting in connectivity, with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth wireless standards, USB 3.2 Gen2 ports and an HDMI 2.1 output to connect to external displays.
It also has a webcam with a cover to protect privacy when not in use and a slot for microSD memory cards. Its keyboard is a full-size backlit with 1.4mm key travel for more comfortable typing. In addition, the keyboard, touchpad and palm rest are protected by a layer of antibacterial protection. As for autonomy, the manufacturer promises up to 10 hours of use.
In a new “Zinc” color finish and featuring the latest version of Chrome OS with full access to Google Play and the ability to run Android and Linux apps, the ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip will be available this quarter. Yes, Chromebooks are today a real alternative to Windows and macOS.
