ASUS ExpertCenter PN65, first Mini-PC with Intel Meteor Lake

Intel has yet to release its next processing platform, the codenamed 14th Generation Core Meteor Lake, but at Computex 2023 we have seen a preview of equipment. If the other day we saw the MSI Prestige 16 laptop, now we see the first Mini-PC, the ASUS ExpertCenter PN65.

On the outside, it looks very similar to the PN64 (focused on companies and also presented at the fair) in a typical design of the manufacturer’s computers. It has a size of 130 x 120 x 58 mm and the big news will be an Intel Core 14Gen processor. It is not known if Intel will take advantage to slim down an overwhelming catalog and an easier to understand nomenclature.

We also do not know the specific model that it will use, but we do know that it will be from the ‘P’ or ‘U’ series, the series that Intel offers for laptops and which are the ones used in mini-PCs. The ASUS listing indicates that it will be accompanied by an integrated graphics card. iris xe Intel is expected to improve performance.

We also see an increase in the frequency of RAM that will include two SO-DIMM modules 5600MHz DDR5 with a maximum capacity of 32 GBytes. The storage will be the usual, with a PCIe 4 SSD of up to 2 Tbytes and a free 2.5″ bay to mount an SSD or SATA hard drive.

Its connectivity is quite good. The compact will be packed with ports on the back and front, and will support the latest wireless standards:

  • 1 2.5GbE Ethernet LAN
  • Intel AX210 with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2
  • 2 HDMI ports
  • 1 additional port configurable for HDMI/Display Port or LAN
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
  • 1 audio output with 3.5 mm jack for headphones/microphone
  • Kensington lock slot
  • 1 DC power input

The ASUS ExpertCenter PN65 will be able to pre-install Windows 11 Pro or Home and will also be distributed without an operating system for the user to install the one they consider. Remember that this Intel platform can also use Linux. No price (we assume economic) or availability has been provided, which will be later this year or early 2024 when Intel kicks off the Meteor Lake platform.
