ASUS presents the Zenfone 9, a powerful smartphone, but more compact

ASUS has presented the zenfone 9the new generation of the brand’s smartphone that aims to be compact, powerful, capable of taking better photographs and that maintains features such as the use of OLED screens that work at frequencies above the typical 60Hz that are still so common today .

The Zenfone 9 is a smartphone that has been completely redesigned compared to previous generations to adopt a compact form with a screen of 5.9 inches and an elegant appearance in sight. In addition, it offers high performance thanks to the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processors.

Since we have mentioned the size of the screen, we delve into it to say that its panel is of type AMOLED from Samsung and supports a native resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels on an aspect ratio of 20:9, a refresh rate of 120Hz, 112% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, 151% of the sRGB color space, and HDR10+. It is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus.

Regarding the internal components of the Zenfone 9, we find various configurations, but all of them supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with a clock speed at the processor level of 3.2GHz and accompanied by an Adreno 730 graphics. In terms of memory, there are smartphone configurations with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage internal under the UFS 3.1 specification, 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage and 16GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.

The cameras are another front to highlight the Zenfone 9. In the back there is one with two sensors, one IMX766 from Sony that works at 50 megapixels and another IMX363, also from Sony, that works at 12 megapixels. For its part, the front camera sensor is a Sony IMX663 that goes to 12 megapixels. Available video recording modes are 8K UHD (7680 × 4320) at 24fps with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) at 30/60fps with EIS, and FullHD at 30/60fps with HyperSteady .

In terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C, a 3.5 jack connector for “lifelong” headphones have been incorporated. The Zenfone 9 has space for two NANO SIM and/or NANO SIM 2 cards along with compatibility with DSDV 5G+5G. The battery, 4,300mAh, supports fast charging with a 30W HyperCharge adapter. The dimensions are 146.5 x 68.1 x 9.1 millimeters and the weight is approximately 169 grams, while the operating system is Android 12 with the ASUS ZenUI 9 customization layer.

The Zenfone 9 is the first smartphone capable of using the Connex modular case system created by ASUS itself. Basically, it’s a case called a Connex that can be attached to accessories on the perforated panel on the bottom. Among its features, it has an intelligent support that consists of a kickstand that launches a selected application or game when it is displayed. It also has a card holder.

The price of the configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is 829 euros, although during the first month there will be a promotion that lowers it to 759 euros. The variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs 879 euros, while the one with 16GB and 256GB of internal storage is priced at 929 euros. The pre-purchase and discount period will be open from July 28 to August 21 and it is expected that the units will begin to be available from the week of August 15.
