Gaming routers have gained performance with the arrival of the new Wi-Fi 6 standard and the ASUS TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 is another addition to the offering of essential components in a local network infrastructure. Simply, they are the key to our Internet access and the connection between devices.
The ASUS TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 shows an aggressive design with a black finish and yellow touches on its four external antennas, but it does not forget the section of the durability and strength boasting the last name ‘TUF’, with metal shields on the ports and heat sinks with a multi-level “nanocarbon coating” to keep the temperatures of the various components inside under control.
One of them is a SoC with a quad-core ARM processor that works at a clock frequency of up to 1.7 GHz. The RAM memory is 512 MB and the built-in flash module is 256 Mbytes.

As a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 wireless router, it offers speeds up to 3000Mbps (2.4 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 576 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band), 4X network efficiency with OFDMA and 160 MHz channels.
For wired networks it has one 2.5 Gbps WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports that can be added to get 2 Gigabit. There’s also a 5Gbps USB 3 Type-A port that can turn any USB mass storage device into a network share or be used to share a printer.
With a 2 × 2 MIMO configuration and other improvements such as beamforming that focuses the signal towards each device, the ASUS router promises to send the signal to any point in the home, while the function AiMesh allows to create scalable mesh networks and expand coverage adding other compatible routers or access points.
The ASUS TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 supports Open NAT to simplify port forwarding and special gaming modes for mobile games that minimize lag and latency with a simple touch. It also has navigation mode, file transfer or streaming, and VPNFusion which allows you to run a VPN and a normal internet connection.
Support for the WPA3 security protocol and advanced parental controls is not lacking, while the free AiProtection service powered by Trend Micro protects all connected smart devices against Internet security threats. No price has been provided for this second generation. To give you an idea, the original version is priced around 200 euros.
