ASUS has unveiled a huge update to its gaming laptop lineup at CES. Under the elite ROG series, there are at least a dozen models from the Zephyrus, Strix and Flow series. ASUS has also introduced other laptops under the TUF series, ROG desktop models in ATX mid-tower and tower formats, completed by the new monitors that we were introducing to you this morning, including the first on the planet with 540Hz.
ASUS ROG Laptops (2023)
In this post we are going to focus on the two main series of gaming laptops because they are tremendous as we have already seen in the presentations of other manufacturers. High-end laptops they want to replace the desktops and they are certainly getting it because of its enormous potential. ASUS ROG have been completely refreshed with 13th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA RTX 40 Mobile series dedicated graphics, as well as AMD Ryzen 7000 on some models.
The increase in performance and increasingly slim designs have forced all manufacturers to improve refrigeration systems. ASUS is using liquid metal as the thermal compound along with a cooling system with seven heat pipes, a full-width heat sink, and a vapor chamber (depending on the model). The top of the range will have up to three fans and integrated filters to prevent the entry of dust and fibers.
The company has also incorporated wraparound vents to improve airflow. In addition, when the temperature of CPU and GPU is lower than 50/60 degrees Celsius, the system will turn off all fans and offer 0dB ambient cooling solution.
Another outstanding novelty of the new ASUS ROG laptops is a screen that the firm called “Nebula” that uses a Mini LED panel, with HDR, up to 1100 nits of maximum brightness and up to 1024 dimming zones. All will feature NVIDIA Advanced Optimus technology.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus
We really like this series from ASUS that offers great performance in thin and light form factors that can be used on the go anywhere besides the desktop.
Zephyrus M16. It is the new star of the series and a sample of its advanced design is its weight of only 2.1kg, excellent considering its power and screen size.
ASUS offers two panels to choose from 16 inchesa stunning ROG Nebula Mini-LED (HDR QHD+ (2560 x 1600), 240Hz / 3ms, 100% DCI-P3) with G-Sync, Dolby Vision and PANTONE Validation or an IPS QHD+ (2560 x 1600, 240 Hz / 3 ms, 100% DCI-P3, also Pantone Validated, with Dolby Vision and certified for G-SYNC synchronization technology.
The internal configuration offers new generation Intel processors up to the Core i9-13900H and the graphics section with dedicated up to the NVIDIA RTX 4090. The customer can choose to mount up to 64 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz memory and 2 Tbytes for storage with PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Its keyboard is a backlit chiclet and the audio system is powered by 4 subwoofers and 2 tweeters. A high-flying model for demanding users who want the best for the desktop and for mobility.
Zephyrus G16. Another model with a 16-inch screen, with the option of mounting the IPS panel that we saw from the previous model and other more modest FHD+ (1920 x 1200), 165 Hz / 7 ms that should be much cheaper. You can equip processors up to the Core i9-13900H and in the dedicated graphics section up to the NVIDIA RTX 4070. Memory is also reduced to a maximum of 48 GB, maintaining the storage and connectivity of the previous model.
ROG Zephyrus G14. For those looking for a more compact model, ASUS offers this version with a 14-inch screen that incorporates another high-flying panel, a Nebula Mini-LED (HDR QHD+ (2560 x 1600), 240 Hz / 3 ms, 100% DCI-P3 ) with G-Sync, Dolby Vision, and PANTONE Validation. As an option, IPS panels are also available. In this version, the manufacturer is committed to the new Ryzen 9 ZEN 4, combined with NVIDIA graphics up to the RTX 4090, 32 Gbytes of DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
ROG Zephyrus Duo 16. ASUS has also updated its ‘Duo’ version with the aforementioned Mini-LED or IPS displays from the Zephyrus M16. It is powered by the Ryzen 9 ZEN 4, combined with NVIDIA graphics up to the RTX 4090, 64 Gbytes of DDR5 RAM and an SSD of up to TB PCIe 4.0. The connectivity is total for this aluminum and magnesium model with that double screen characteristic of the version.
ASUS ROG Strix
The Strix line has remained the flagship of performance within ASUS ROG laptops and now counts as a great novelty with a new 18-inch model that is the ultimate in laptops and is a size that we are seeing at CES of others manufacturers.
ROG Strix SCAR 18 and 16.
A redesign of the chassis that adapts to the largest screens has allowed the mounting of 16 and 18-inch screens with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and several panels to choose from up to the Nebula Mini-LED (HDR QHD + (2560 x 1600), 240 Hz / 3 ms, 100% DCI-P3) with G-Sync, Dolby Vision and PANTONE Validation.
The manufacturer has improved the cooling performance of these new chassis, allowing more headroom for the CPU and GPU to increase maximum frame rates. They are now equipped with an extra-thick, full-width heat sink, Tri-Fan technology, and liquid metal for more efficient waste heat removal.
Inside, it repeats the configuration that we are seeing in the high-end, with new generation Intel processors up to the Core i9-13900H and the graphics section with dedicated up to the NVIDIA RTX 4090. You can equip up to 64 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz memory and 4 Tbytes for storage with PCIe 4.0 SSD.
As for connectivity, it offers Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 3.2, HDMI 2.1 output, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, among others. Its keyboard is a backlit chiclet and the audio system includes four speakers with Dolby Atmos. It is necessary to highlight the care of the manufacturer to control the weight of these laptops, with 2.5 and 3.1 kg respectively.
ROG Strix G16 and G18. A variant of the previous ones with some “reduced” components. And we put them in quotes because they hold tremendous potential. The screens can be IPS or LCD, while the processor remains up to the Core i9-13900H, the graphics up to RTX 4080, 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD.
ROG Strix 17. A different model that already existed in the catalog and that has now been updated with AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 processors and NVIDIA graphics up to 4090. It can equip up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory at 4800 MHz and 2 Tbytes for storage with SSD. Its screen offers a single 17-inch IPS panel, with QHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels), 240 Hz / 3 ms, DCI-P3 100%, with G-SYNC and Dolby Vision. The connectivity is as complete as the previous ones except for Thunderbolt 4 reserved for the Intel platform.
Without a doubt, a very complete line from the manufacturer that sells the most gaming laptops on the planet. And that in this entry we have only seen the Zephyrus and Strix series…
