Atomic Heart Requirements: Minimum, Recommended, and Ultra

Atomic Heart’s requirements changed a few days ago, and they did so at launch, which means that this game will eventually be more demanding than initially expected and that we will need a more powerful PC to be able to move it properly. This is a demanding game, that is clear, and to better guide the user the Mundfish team, responsible for this title, have shared an expanded and much clearer list of requirementssince it indicates the resolution, FPS rate and graphic quality that we can expect from each level of requirements.

Atomic Heart Requirements

Low quality and 30 FPS

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-2500 (AVX, AVX2 and SSE 4.2 required).
  • 8 GB of RAM (12 GB recommended).
  • AMD Radeon R9 380 4 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 4 GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space, SSD recommended.

There is no equivalence error that we can consider serious, although the Ryzen 3 1200 is superior to the Core i5-2500.

Low quality and 60 FPS

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-6500.
  • 8 GB of RAM (12 GB recommended).
  • Radeon RX 580 8 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space, SSD recommended.

In this case there is no serious equivalence error, although the Core i5-6500 has a higher IPC than the Ryzen 3 1200 and is therefore higher than this.

Medium quality and 60 FPS

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600K.
  • 16GB of RAM.
  • AMD RX 5600 XT 6 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space on SSD.

There is a CPU equivalency error, because the Ryzen 5 1400 has four cores and eight threads, while the Core i5-6600K has four cores and four threads. The correct equivalence would be a Ryzen 3 2300X.

The graphics card equivalence is also wrong, the closest thing to the GTX 1070 would be a Radeon RX Vega 56.

High quality and 60 FPS

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-7600K.
  • 16GB of RAM.
  • AMD RX 5700 XT 8 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space on SSD.

Another serious CPU equivalency bug, because the Ryzen 5 1600 has 6 cores and 12 threads, and the Core i5-7600K has four cores and four threads. The closest would be a Ryzen 3 2300X.

In GPU equivalence we also have an error, and the closest thing to the GeForce GTX 1080 would be a Radeon RX 5700.

Atomic Heart Requirements

Ultra quality and 60 FPS

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-7700K.
  • 16GB of RAM.
  • AMD RX 6700 XT 12 GB or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space on SSD.

We also have equivalence errors in CPU and GPU. The closest processor to the Intel Core i7-7700K would be a Ryzen 5 2500Xsince both have four cores and eight threads.

The closest equivalent to the GeForce RTX 2070 Super would be a Radeon RX 6600XT.

Ultra quality, 60 FPS and 4K

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 20H1 or later).
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i7-8700K.
  • 16GB of RAM.
  • AMD RX 6800 XT 16GB or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB graphics card.
  • DirectX 12.
  • 90 GB of available space on SSD.

In this case we have no significant equivalence errorsalthough the Core i7-8700K performs slightly better than the Ryzen 5 3600X.

I can confirm that the indicated FPS rate is the minimum that we will achieve with each configuration in demanding scenes, that is, they represent the worst possible scenario. This means that average frame rates per second will be higher.

Regarding the 8 GB RAM requirement and the 12 GB RAM recommendation there is a very simple explanation. We will be able to play Atomic Heart with only 8 GB of memory, but we will not be able to activate the shaders optimization option (for this we will need 12 GB of RAM), which means that we will have to deal with some stuttering problems due to loading shaders when entering new zones.
