EA is careful not to give the exact number of copies sold of Battlefield 2042. Given the scale of the disaster, we imagine that the figures are not very high, but impossible for the moment to have the heart net . The publisher, however, ensures that DICE is working hard to raise the bar.

Battlefield 2042 will go down in history as one of the worst game launches in history. Particularly awaited by the fans, the disappointment was only greater on arrival. There is no other word than “unplayable” to describe the experience offered by DICE on release, the bugs are numerous and vicious. Despite the studio’s best efforts, it didn’t take long before players abandoned the servers, preferring even to turn to the old games.

EA therefore finds itself in a very bad position by having attracted itself again – how not to do the parallel with the release of Star Wars Battlefront II — the ire of the gaming community. Also, the publisher applies the ostrich method. While its quarterly financial report took place yesterday, we expected to have the first sales figures for Battlefield 2042. Nothing came of it.

In the gaming world, such silence is rarely a good sign. While publishers don’t always choose to give exact numbers, most aren’t bothered to show off when their headline is a success. For his part, Andrew Wilson, boss of EA, preferred caress the players in the direction of the hair. “We are fully committed to realizing the full potential of this game, and fully committed to Battlefield fans. We have already implemented a series of major updates to the game, and there is still a lot to do,” he explained, referring to the famous updates supposed to make the game acceptable.

The latter continues by confirming that the first season will be pushed back to the summer of 2022: “Players can expect meaningful updates to continue in the coming weeks, and we are shifting the first season of live service content to early summer as we work closely with our community to evolve and improve the core experience of Battlefield 2042”. Again, EA has remained silent on rumors announcing that the next Battlefield will be free-to-play.
