BBVA has decided to restructure its organization, with the creation of BBVA Technologya company that will serve as an umbrella for the group’s three companies dedicated to the world of technology: BBVA Next Technologies, BBVA IT Spain and Datio.
BBVA Technology will therefore be a new subsidiary of BBVA, and will have greater strategic relevance within the group. Also, thanks to this change in its structure, it will be prepared to offer more professional development opportunities for the bank’s talent who are experts in various areas of technology.
The new BBVA company will begin its journey in early 2024, and will have offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao. Initially it will have 3,000 workers, and it will be the current CEO of BBVA Next Technologies, Ricardo Jurado, who will hold the same position at BBVA Technology after the three companies have been fully integrated into it.
Mainly, BBVA Technology will be dedicated to working on projects related to the transformation of software development. This is one of the points with the highest priority at the strategy level for the coming years within BBVA’s Engineering area. The banking entity has among its main goals to advance as much as possible in its digitalization.
The transformation of three companies into a single company will involve the consolidation of the experience of the teams that have worked in them until now. Work will also be done on the elimination of duplicate projects and tasks resulting from work in three different entities. Until now, the three have worked, among other things, on the development of the entity’s app, as well as on the BBVA website. Both in its area for individuals and in the one dedicated to companies
BBVA hopes that, by bringing together all its technology-related assets into a single brand, it can develop an attractive value proposition, both to increase the satisfaction and loyalty of current teams in order to retain talent, and to attract new ones, who are expert in different technological sectors.
