If you’re one of those who played the original Monkey Island and hasn’t played since that time when computers had a turbo button, it’s possible that your biggest concern when receiving the new Return to Monkey Island it is that you have completely forgotten part of the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood. Well, you have nothing to worry about.
Remembering the three-headed monkey
With the idea of refreshing the memory and situating new players who are going to play Monkey Island for the first time, the developers of the new game have created a special section called “Guybrush’s Scrapbook”, which is nothing more than a memory book of our protagonist in which to remember his old adventures.
In this digital book we will be able to do a quick review of the first two games in the saga, and it is that Return to Monkey Island is located just after those two games. In The Secret of Monkey Island Y Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s RevengeGuybrush had to manage in a thousand ways to get out of a lot of trouble, like the three tests to be pirate, the purchase of his first boat, the arrival at Monkey Island, the secret key to open the cave of the giant monkey head and much more.
For anyone who has played the game, these memories will probably be burned into their heads, but for those who do not know the story, it will be good to know the adventures of the pirate.
A first look at the notebook
In IGN have been able to take a look at this section of regards, and thanks to the video that they have published we can see how Guybrush himself narrates each of the memories and moments that are represented in the notebook. Just by clicking on them, the good guy from Guybrush will tell us what is hidden behind that image or cutout that appears placed on the pages of the book.
This is a very original way to relive old adventures and to show new players the style that has permeated the game, since as many of you know, humor and crazy ideas have a place in this adventure. And, who would have thought of using a rubber chicken as a pulley? And a giant stick as a secret key?
When does the new Monkey Island come out?
After waiting many years, the new installment of Monkey Island will finally hit stores on September 19e, so we are only a few days away from being able to get on a new ship and sail the seas in search of the mysterious monkey island. Will we have to fall asleep again with a strange potion to reach our destination?
Remember that the game will arrive on PC and Switch for now, and we don’t know if it will be encouraged to make the leap to other platforms in the near future. Let’s hope at least that it will be dropped by Mac and the next generation consoles. No one should miss a game of this caliber.
