It is still quite large and covers such varied price ranges that it is difficult to choose. Fortunately, some products stand out and it is precisely on them that we have decided to stop.
All the tablets you will find in this selection are recent products designed by well-known manufacturers. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+
This is the best of the Android tablet market today. The Galaxy Tab S7+ is a high-end tablet equipped with a chip Snapdragon 865+ with 5G as a bonus. The standard Galaxy Tab S7 (see below) on the other hand does not have a 5G option. The SoC is supported by a RAM of 6 GB (128 GB of storage) or 8 GB (256 GB or 512 GB of storage).
The Galaxy Tab S7+ has a 10.4-inch AMOLED display in definition 2800 x 1752 px with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The photo unit is composed of a double sensor: a 13MP wide-angle module and a 5MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The tablet is equipped with a 10,000 mAh battery. XiaomiPad 5
Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 5 is an excellent Android tablet and one of the best on the market in 2022. It is equipped with an 11-inch screen in 2560 x 1600 pixel definition with a refresh rate of 120Hz. To animate it, there is a SoC Snapdragon 860 supported by 6 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The tablet thus offers comfortable performance in all situations of use and even for gaming.
Thanks to that 8720mAh battery, it offers an autonomy of up to 2 days. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is compatible with a Smart Pen stylus that attaches magnetically to the side. It is sold separately. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
Samsung’s top-of-the-range model, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 offers a multitude of features. The Tab S7 sports an 11-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The tablet is equipped with a high-end Snapdragon 865+ chip. It ensures comfortable performance in all cases. In addition, the Galaxy Tab S7 has an internal memory of 128 GB and 6 GB of RAM.
Its 8,000 mAh capacity battery supports 45W fast charging, an advantage that even the Galaxy S21 series do not benefit from (charging limited to 25W). The Galaxy Tab S7 battery lasts at least a full day with normal usage.

iPad Pro M1
We start our selection of the best tablets with the iPad Pro M1. As with the previous generation iPad Pro, two versions are available. The one with the 11-inch screen and the one with the 12.9-inch screen.
The 11-inch Liquid Retina display incorporates ProMotion technologies, True Tone display and ultra-low reflectance. Like the 12.9-inch model, Apple has equipped it with an anti-reflective coating allowing it to be used in all conditions as well as a wide range of P3 colors.
The 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display delivers deep blacks (1,000,000:1 contrast ratio) and superior brightness (1,600 nits versus 600 nits for the Liquid Retina display). It uses Mini-LED backlight technology. The resolution of the 12.9-inch screen is also higher: 2,732 x 2,048, or 5.6 million pixels, compared to 2,388 x 1,668, or 3.98 million pixels for the 11-inch model.
The onboard RAM memory is the same on all models, namely 8 GB. For the rest, only the storage capacity between 128 GB and 2 TB justifies the price difference between the different models, but also the wireless connectivity, with a Wifi model and another Wifi + Cellular. Finally, it is the same Apple M1 chip announced “1500 times faster” on the graphics part, which equips all iPad Pro 11 inches and 12. (Xanax) 9 inches whatever their configuration.

iPad 9 (2021)
If you’re not interested in the Pro version, the 2021 iPad (9th generation) is a cheaper alternative. The tablet has a 10.2-inch Retina display (2,160 x 1,620 pixels) and an A13 chip. Unlike the iPad Pro, it keeps the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. It is therefore the only iPad to keep the old design with wide edges on both sides.
Its rear camera is 8 MP and has not changed compared to the camera of the 8th generation iPad. It is at the front that Apple has integrated a new, much more efficient selfie sensor. We go from a 1.2 MP FaceTime sensor to a 12 MP ultra wide-angle module. The 2021 iPad also has stereo speakers, an 802.11ac Wi‑Fi chip, and up to 10 hours of battery life. Finally, the tablet comes with a Lightning to USB cable and a USB power adapter.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a lighter version of the Tab S7+. It has a screen of the same size, 12.4 inches, but this is an LCD panel and not OLED. The tablet features a Snapdragon 750G SoC if you want the WiFi + 5G enabled version or a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 778G if you choose the WiFi only version. The chip is paired with 4GB RAM (64GB storage) or 8GB RAM (128GB/256GB).

Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 2021
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 2021 was launched in France at the beginning of 2022. It is a very recent entry-level tablet which represents an alternative to the Tab S7 series if you are looking for a Samsung tablet with a price below the €300 mark. The manufacturer does not specify the tablet’s processor except that it is 10% more efficient than that of its predecessor. However, we know that it is equipped with a Unisoc T618 chip.
It is made up of two Cortex-A75 cores and six A55 cores. Everything is accompanied by a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. The Galaxy Tab A8 has 3GB RAM (32GB storage) or 4GB RAM (64 or 128GB storage). The storage is expandable up to 1 TB. Finally, note that the tablet has a 10.5-inch LCD screen in 1920 x 1200 px definition and that it has a 7040 mAh battery.
Microsoft Surface Pro 8
The new Microsoft Surface Pro 8 succeeds the already excellent Surface Pro 7 after a long career. The new model brings several evolutions including a revised design. The 13-inch screen (2880 x 1920 px) has thinner borders and above all offers a 120 Hz refresh rate. Microsoft has decided to get up to speed on this plan.
Powering the tablet, which can also be used as a Windows PC, is an 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. It is supported by 8 to 32 GB of RAM depending on your needs. 🤔 Why buy a tablet in 2022?
In 2022, touch tablets allow you to do a multitude of things, similar to what smartphones offer. They offer the advantage of a large screen which provides better comfort for multimedia entertainment or for watching Netflix. Some tablets come with a stylus or keyboard, allowing for increased productivity compared to using a smartphone.
📱 Which tablet to choose?
It all depends on your needs. Samsung, Apple, Microsoft all offer quality, rather high-end touch tablets with prices often above 500 €. If you want an entry / mid-range tablet with decent performance, these brands also have proposals. You can therefore choose an iPad 9 for less than €400 rather than an iPad Pro or even a Galaxy Tab S7 FE / Galaxy Tab A8 rather than a Galaxy Tab S7+.
📏 What screen size for your tablet?
If you are geared towards multimedia and productivity, the minimum to make the most of your tablet is a 9-inch screen. Some models offer an 8-inch or even 7-inch screen. Practical for people looking for a more compact tablet, easy to carry.
