The processor market has shown the way forward for Intel and AMD. The ARM big.LITTLE architecture has spent years combining core power and efficiency in chips for mobile phones and tablets. Really, it was a matter of time before this design would reach the “mainstream” processor market.
Basically, the small or efficiency cores are used for browsing, working, multimedia or as “help” for the large or power cores. The latter are activated when there is a high load, come on, when a game is launched, Photoshop is used, streaming or similar things.
New design for AMD Ryzen APUs
A few months ago the first rumors about the AMD Strix appeared. Specifically, we have seen the first data on the Strix Point APUs, which would be in the testing phase. These solutions would have a total of 12 coresin a hybrid configuration.
According to Twitter user Olrak29, we should see a 4-core Zen5 and 8-core Zen5c Strix Point APU. This combination seeks to offer great performance in games and high efficiency in everyday tasks.
We would also see a solution called Strix Halo or Sarlak, which would be a much more powerful APU. this would be a 16 core beast Zen5 divided into two DIE, similar to the desktop version. The difference between this APU and the desktop version would be in the DIE I/O, which includes a GPU.
According to rumors, this Strix Halo APUs has a Graphic card integrated quite powerful. The rumors point to 40 Compute Unitswhich would not be bad for eSports games and other titles in 1080p.
We have, on the other hand, more data from two new Ryzen 8000 APU configurations. would be the models Hawk Point and Fire Range that would come to replace the high-end Dragon Rage models for laptops. Finally, we would have the Granite Ridge that would have a TDP of up to 170 watts.
They continue the line of AMD solutions that seeks to satisfy the needs of users. An interesting jump in power and, consequently, in performance is expected. Also the integrated graphics architecture RDNA3 and RDNA3.5they should provide more benefits for games.

Go beyond Dota, Fortnite or CS:GO
The clear objective for these APUs will be to move games beyond the typical eSports in 1080p resolution. The great strength of AMD lies in the integrated graphics of its solutions, more powerful than those of Intel. It makes it possible to develop much cheaper and more versatile gaming computers.
These iGPUs don’t need to run games at 1440p, for example, they should run any game at 1080p at a good rate. They do and surely the next solutions will improve this aspect. A niche that the company knows how to exploit like no one else.
At the moment, it is unthinkable to look for an Intel processor to assemble a computer without dedicated graphics. The reality is that their iGPUs are very limited, although it is true that they have improved a lot in recent years.
