Big day of update on the Apple side

Without being the update of the century, iOS 15.2 offers quite interesting and innovative new features for users.

After the arrival of iOS 15 a few months ago, version 15.2 has just been made public by the developers of the Apple brand. After four beta releases, the update started rolling out to iPhone users last night. As always, Apple generally does not update for nothing, and the latter is no exception to the rule. It does indeed contain new features that could change two or three habits that we have tended to adopt on iOS.

While the notification swiping system on the right still hasn’t returned, much to the regret of some, this update focuses on other aspects of the iPhone. One of the biggest changes is the Message app. Indeed, and as it had been announced by Apple several months ago already, the application will now “scan” the images exchanged to a child via this application, in order to prevent him from seeing nudity.

This very controversial feature, seen by many as an attack on individual freedoms, was finally implemented by Apple, as the Cupertino company had promised this summer. This feature was supposed to arrive as a complement to the CSAM, but this project was finally abandoned by Apple in the face of the mountain of criticism.

Always more transparent iPhones

In addition to iOS 15.2 which was released on Monday, Apple also unveiled the arrival of the iPadOS 15.2 updates, which features much the same changes, but these are optimized for the Apple tablets. The Cupertino company has also delivered WatchOS 8.3 updates for Apple Watch connected watches.

When it comes to phones and tablets, Apple has just implemented a whole new feature, which lets you know if the device uses original components or if its structure has been changed. The apple brand is working more and more on the repair of these products. In particular, it announced that it plans to let users repair their iPhones themselves using a kit provided by Apple. A great first for Apple which gives a little more freedom to its customers.

In order to check the information on your iPhone you have to go to Parts and Service History, this small feature is hidden in the Settings menu, then general and finally the about section.

Change in settings

Apple has also launched other small novelties within its update. The “Heritage” functionality is thus making its appearance. As its name suggests, the latter makes it possible to designate a trusted person as responsible for their personal data in the event of death. If it may seem morbid, the question of post-mortem personal data is today part of a total legal vagueness, and its use controversial. In order to avoid this, Apple therefore offers this new feature.

Still in the interests of privacy and greater transparency between third-party applications and iPhone users, Apple has just launched its App Privacy Report. The latter will make it possible to summarize the number of times an application has requested and had access to personal data such as the location, the microphone or the camera. This option is presented as a weekly summary, a bit like the “screen time” application which allows you to keep an eye on its use.
