Bitcoin and cryptocurrency tattoos are increasingly popular

Tattoos representing the logo of Bitcoin or a cryptocurrency are becoming popular. On Google or on social networks, there are many individuals who are branded with the acronym of their favorite digital currency. Searches related to Bitcoin or Dogecoin tattoos have increased by 222%, study reveals.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies continue to grow in popularity. According to a study by the Association for the Development of Digital Assets (Adan), 8% of French people have already invested in crypto-assets. In addition, 30% of residents of France plan to start.

The interest in cryptocurrencies is also illustrated in the field of tattoos. According to a study carried out by Crypto Head, a company specializing in the sector, the interest in tattoos representing the Bitcoin logo or another cryptocurrency grew 222% in 2021.

Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Ethereum tattoos are popular

The researchers say they analyzed Google search volume and Instagram hashtag data to monitor netizen interest in crypto tattoos.

The study claims to have analyzed 1,900 Google queries for the keywords “crypto tattoo” in 2021. Last year, 1,600 queries were for the words “Bitcoin tattoo”. More surprisingly, netizens were also interested in tattoos showing the Dogecoin logothis cryptocurrency born from a joke in 2014.

Widely popularized by Elon Musk on Twitter, the currency has accumulated 700 searches over the past 12 months. Ether, the second most valuable cryptocurrency on the market, has not aroused the same enthusiasm among tattoo enthusiasts.

On Instagram, Crypto Head unearthed several cryptocurrency lovers who got the Bitcoin logo tattooed. 986 posts on Instagram show a Bitcoin tattoo. Behind Bitcoin, we find the hashtags #cryptotatoo or #dogecointattoo and #ethereumtattoo. There are several mentions of a tattoo with the image of a cryptocurrency on Facebook or on Twitter.

Typically, tattoos represent the B of bitcoin. They are placed on the joints, the forearms, at the back of the neck or just below the ear. The drop in the price of Bitcoin, which is currently trading around $40,000 after peaking at $69,000 last fall, has not dampened the enthusiasm of cryptocurrency fans.
