Black Shark is preparing to launch a new high-end gaming smartphone, and its technical characteristics are already starting to leak little by little on the Chinese social network Weibo.
Shortly after learning that Tencent wanted to buy Black Shark from Xiaomi to get into the metaverse, the first technical specifications of the manufacturer’s next smartphone were unveiled on the Weibo social network. Black Shark specializes in gaming smartphones, and its latest Black Shark 4S Pro was notably crowned “most powerful device” in the AnTuTu benchmark in December 2021.
The Digital Chat Station leaker revealed that the company is preparing to release a new smartphone, the Black Shark 5 within the next few weeks, and that it will offer a technical sheet very similar to its predecessor.
What do we know about the next Black Shark 5?
The Black Shark 5 gaming smartphone would be powered by Qualcomm’s new high-end chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It will therefore be significantly more powerful than the previous generation, but the rest of the technical characteristics will be quite similar. Indeed, the smartphone will be powered by a 4600 mAh battery, i.e. 100 mAh more than the Black Shark 4S Pro, and the fast charging 120 W will be there again.
As you will surely have noticed, for now, the Black Shark 5 offers the same features as the Xiaomi 12 Pro which was unveiled last month. However, the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro will offer a screen designed for gamers.
According to leaker Bald Panda, the Pro variant should be equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2K definition and 144Hz refresh rate. The sample rate should exceed 720Hz, which will be fine for video games. Finally, we learn that the smartphone will be delivered with the JOYUI overlay based on Android 12. This will probably be very inspired by MIUI 13, which Xiaomi unveiled on the occasion of the launch of the Xiaomi 12.
