If since the release of the reboot of Modern Warfare in 2019, the license has seen several additional opuses since like COD: Black Ops Cold War or Vanguard, Modern Warfare remains one of the favorite episodes of gamers.

It must be recognized that in addition to offering a high-flying single-player campaign, the multiplayer experience was top notch. In fact, a large number of players still compete on the COD Modern Warfare servers, on consoles as well as on PC.

Nevertheless and for several months now, some PS5 owners are encountering all the difficulties in the world to play COD Modern Warfare on their machine. Indeed, when trying to access one of the three components of the game, namely Campaign, Multiplayer or Spec Ops, players come across an error message telling them that the required data packs are not installed.

A bug prevents installing Modern Warfare data packs

And when players follow the instructions given to download these famous data packs, another error message appears informing them that the installation was “suspended”. And unfortunately for them, there is currently no solution to restart the download of the packs in question.

Result, if you had uninstalled the game from your PS5 and you want to play it again… Well, you will have to choose another title, if you encounter this problem in any case. Where the shoe pinches, it’s that Activision has been aware of this concern for several months alreadyas evidenced by the bug tracker on Activision Tech Support.

Known Issue: Some players are reporting that they cannot install Multiplayer packs and are getting a message telling them that their installation was suspended”, can we read on the official website of the support of the publisher.

Worse still, everything seems to indicate that Activision is not really working to solve the problem, since the corresponding page was last updated in March 2022. To this must be added the nightmare caused by the integration of Warzone into the famous Call of Duty hub, which provides access to all the recent titles of the license.

The fault with the success of Warzone?

Indeed, each time a patch is released for Warzone, data packets for playing Modern Warfare are removedforcing players to re-download no less than 200 GB of data if they want to access the full experience (Solo, Multiplayer and Spec Ops). In total, users have to install 26 different packs…

Yet, you will still be able to play Warzone. This is indeed the whole problem, since since Warzone met with the success that we know of, Activision has transferred all storage and development resources to the Battle Royale mode, to the detriment of previous titles, Modern Warfare in mind. As a reminder, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is due to land on consoles and PC on October 28, 2022, and Activision has just unveiled a new trailer for the title’s single-player campaign on August 17, 2022.
