Call of Duty: Vanguard, PC Requirements – No Ray Tracing!

There are only three days left and until now we have not been able to know what the new title of the most awarded FPS franchise in history requires according to its developers. Call of Duty: Vanguard comes with a story and a multiplayer that promise, but we have to know if our PC is capable of moving it decently to be able to be competitive.

Call of Duty: Vanguard PC Requirements

The good thing about the guys at Sledgehammer is that they always give various characteristics depending on the resolution at which we intend to play, as well as a specific setting. In addition, now there is the possibility of knowing what they think of the operating system and if Windows 10 is still up to the task. So what can we expect from this game?

OS

Interestingly, Windows 10 64 bits with the latest OS updates will be the least we can need to play. The company leaves out the rest of the operating systems, where it neither guarantees support nor performance.

As for recommended, competitive or 4K Ultra requirements, the same will be needed Windows 10 64 bit updated or Windows 11 64 bit also updated. It seems that there will be neither gain nor loss in this regard by opting for one or the other.

CPU

At a minimum, a i3-4340 or a FX-6300Not bad if we take into account the quality of the game visually speaking. The recommended ones go up to a i5-2500K or a Ryzen 5 1600X, so it’s also not crazy as anticipated, while competitive or Ultra 4K will need a i7-8700K or Ryzen 7 1800X for the first and a i9-9900K or Ryzen 9 3900X for the second.

RAM

There are no surprises here, as at a minimum they will be needed 8 GB, while as recommended we will opt for 12 GB and in competitive or 4K Ultra it is already requested 16 GB. It does not seem to be an extremely needy game of this section and its capacity. Instead, no speed or latency is specified.

Storage

A minimum of 36 GB for campaign, multiplayer or zombies, while for recommended, competitive and 4K Ultra we are going to 61 GB, a very affordable figure in these times. In addition to this there is a parameter called Hi-Rez Assets Cache that serves to transmit high resolution images within the game that increase the requirements compared to those named:

  • Minimum, recommended and competitive up to 32 GB.
  • 4K Ultra up to 64 GB.

This parameter can be disabled from the game settings.

Graphics cards and VRAM

Undoubtedly the most controversial section in each game released by the company, where they also specify the VRAM that will be needed for each chosen setting and gameplay.

At least we will need one GTX 960 or one RX 470, the recommended goes up to a GTX 1060 or one RX 580. The competitive mode and if we want to play more seriously it will ask us for a RTX 2070, RTX 3060 Ti or one RX 5700 XT, which is very surprising for the option of the AMD card.

Finally, to play 4K Ultra we will need a RTX 3080 or one RX 6800 XT, which definitely indicates that this Call of Duty: Vanguard is highly optimized for AMD. Regarding VRAM, the minimum required will be 2 GB, the recommended of 4GB, competitive 8 GB and 4K Ultra nothing less than 10 GB, so the NVIDIA option comes in close.

Finally, the drivers that will support this title are the NVIDIA GeForce 472.12 WHQL and the AMD Adrenalin 2021 21.9.1, from there onwards. As a curiosity, the game will have DLSS and FSR, but as revealed by the company it will not have Ray Tracing, something that surprises if we consider that it is a highly anticipated title and Triple A.
