[CBLoL 2022] Check out how the 1st week of the tournament’s playoffs went

CBLoL 2022 kicked off the Playoffs Phase of the First Stage. From Friday (25) to Sunday (27), the Brazilian League of Legends Championship made the community happy with three consecutive days filled with lolzinho, frantic disputes and, of course, a lot of emotion.

Unlike the group stage – remodeled to the remote format due to Covid-19 -, the three duels had the physical presence of players and staff.

Speaking of the matches, some matches didn’t even need the five matches to define the winner of the duels, while one of the matches continued until the fifth match to the delight of the lolzeiros on duty. Of the six teams that entered the knockout stage, five are still alive in the championship.

But before talking about the next games, it’s worth checking out the best that happened in this first stage of the CBLoL 2022 playoffs.

Check out the results of the first week of the CBLoL 2022 playoffs

Round 1 Lower Bracket — Netshoes Miners vs Liberty (winner)

Ranked for the playoffs in 6th place in the CBLoL general table, Liberty opened the knockout stage of the tournament in the duel against Netshoes Miners last Friday. Although the expectation was for a well contested series, the team led by Matsukaze did not find difficulties and beat the miners by 3×0.

The first match even started disputed, but Liberty, little by little, took the reins to finish the match in 34 minutes. Unfortunately, the miners also lost the second game after a great early game and only watched Liberty crash in the third game.

The highlight of the series was for Wos, Liberty’s support, twice considered the best player of the match in the three games played.

Semifinal 1 Upper Bracket — KaBuM! (winner) vs RED Kalunga

On Saturday (26), it was KaBuM’s turn! and RED Kalunga make the first semifinal of the upper bracket. Although RED is the current holder of the trophy, ninjas were considered the favorites after finishing the points stage in first place. And this favoritism was concretized in a 3×0.

In short, KaBuM! doesn’t seem to have felt the return to the Riot stages and has run three great games. The Pack even showed some flashes of reaction, but was dominated in virtually every game. The gold chart of the three matches is living proof of this.

Semifinal 2 Upper Bracket — FURIA vs paiN Gaming (winner)

If the first two duels were relatively “quiet” for Liberty and KaBuM!, the second semifinal of the CBLoL 2022 upper bracket was pure emotion. With twists and turns, paiN managed to beat FURIA in a 3×2 epic — and in the last game of the series.

Who opened the scoring of the series was paiN itself, after a well balanced game initially. The problem is that on the other side was FURIA, second in the overall ranking of the tournament, which not only tied the series in the second game but also opened a 2×1 in the third game.

Everything indicated that the “dream team” would confirm the favoritism and advance to the final of the upper bracket, right? Wrong. Even with a series marked by errors from both teams, paiN was not shaken and managed to tie (again) the series and guarantee the victory in the fifth and final game.

Five teams are still alive for the cup

With the results, only Netshoes Miners said goodbye to the First Stage of CBLoL 2022. For winning their upper bracket series, KaBuM! and paiN advance to the first final — no, it’s not the big decision yet — scheduled for next Sunday (3).

Before that, on Saturday (2), RED Kalunga and Liberty will face each other for the second round of the lower bracket. Whoever wins the duel will face FURIA on April 9th, but that’s a matter for later.

rest week

It is worth remembering that this week there will be no broadcast of the CBLoL Academy 2022. The knockout phase of the League of Legends secondary tournament will only take place on April 5th. CBLoL, in turn, returns with the playoffs next weekend.
