CES 2022 is shortened by one day

Until the end, the CES will have held firm. The world’s largest technology fair will indeed be held in Las Vegas despite the fifth wave powered by the Omicron variant… but it will last less.

The 2022 edition of CES in Las Vegas will close its doors a day earlier, confirmed the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) which organizes the show. In fact, the event will therefore be held between January 5 and 7, which is presented as a ” additional safety measure »Which is in addition to the sanitary protocol implemented at the show.

Sanitary measures

To participate in person, you must show a white paw, i.e. be fully vaccinated against COVID and present proof of vaccination. That’s not all, you will also have to test yourself 24 hours before entering the halls of the show. CES will provide everyone with a test kit when they pick up their badge, and a second PCR test for participants returning to their countries. Finally, the mask is mandatory.

Will all this be enough to reassure not only the participants, but also the companies present on site? Many of them have announced that they will ultimately not make the trip, and not least: Intel, AMD, GM, BMW, Google, Microsoft, or even Amazon have thrown in the towel in the face of the outbreak of contamination.

The CTA however held out, after the entirely virtual fair last year (that of 2022 will also be largely virtual). Despite the no-shows, CES 2022 will host more than 2,200 exhibitors, and the organizer adds that in the past two weeks, 143 more companies have signed up to participate in the edition.
