The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro connected watches replaced the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic respectively. Announced at the same time as the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, these new models have been available since August 26. With a new design and improved technical performance, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro offer, among other things, better autonomy, optimized sleep monitoring and a new temperature sensor.

What’s new in the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro?

The Watch 5 has an aluminum case that comes in 2 sizes: 40 and 44 mm. The Watch 5 Pro offers a single 46 mm titanium case, a material that is lighter and stronger than aluminum. Both models are waterproof to 5 meters and IP68 certified.

Two square screen sizes are available: 1.19 inches (396 x 396 pixels) for the 40 mm body and 1.36 inches (450 x 450 pixels) for 44 and 46 mm bodies. Those are Super AMOLED panels of very good quality. The Watch 5 offers a sapphire crystal protection1.6x stronger than the Watch 4. The Watch 5 Pro has a sapphire crystal glass protection, 2x stronger than the previous generation.

Both versions offer the same sensors: heart rate, blood oxygen, body composition and temperature, GPS, compass, gyroscope and barometer. The interface of sleep tracking has been improved and the Watch 5 Pro offers additional features such as GPS navigation as well as “Track back” to easily find your way back if you ever get lost.

With a larger battery capacitythe Galaxy Watch 5 can now achieve 50 hours of battery life and until 80 hours for its Pro version. The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are available in two versions, 4G and Bluetooth.
