Choco Spain acquires the startup Katoo

The foodtech company, Choco, which helps both suppliers and restaurants to digitize and optimize order management, acquires the Katoo app to consolidate its position in the Spanish market. This acquisition means the growth of Choco users, as well as positioning itself as the reference solution for the digitization of the food chain.

Oriol Reull, General Manager of Choco Spain, maintains his satisfaction at being able to contribute to making the food chain and its innovation in the Spanish territory increasingly a reality. “We have decided to join forces with Katoo since our goal is and has always been the same: to avoid food waste while restaurants join the increasingly essential wave of digitization.”

For his part, Diogo CunhaCEO and co-founder of Katoo, adds that from Katoo “We have been in relationship with Choco for years and we are very happy to join in this mission to digitize the restaurant and HORECA sector together. This operation will allow us to continue concentrating efforts to develop the best product and help hoteliers to be increasingly efficient.”

Choco’s 2022 and forecasts for 2023

Choco, a unicorn that is currently valued at €1,120 million, closes a year in which it has been able to consolidate its presence in Spanish territory, as well as increase its workforce, about 100 people hoping it will
double next year.

Likewise, the platform already has a presence in 7 countries around the world, and it intends, throughout 2023, to continue expanding around the world and explore new territories.
