Chuwithe device manufacturer of Chinese origin, has announced the fourth generation of its mini-PC CoreBoxwhich includes Intel’s Alder Lake processor technology along with Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 4.
The fourth generation of the Chuwi CoreBox has some dimensions of 173 x 158 x 73 mm and its gray and black chassis is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy and polycarbonate (plastic). Its weight is approximately 865 gramsso it may not be the lightest device in its category, apart from being somewhat large, but its characteristics are sufficient for light gaming, which obviously covers all kinds of less demanding contexts, such as the office.
Going deeper into the features, the new CoreBox employs a Intel Core i3-1215U as a processor, a model that has two high-performance cores and four efficient ones for a total of eight threads (two for each high-performance core and one for each efficient core). The integrated graphics processor is capable of supporting the latest generation APIs, DirectX 12 and Vulkan.
At the memory level, it has 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, so this front should offer better performance than other computers that use DDR4. On the other hand, the 512GB PCIe SSD built-in default for data storage can be easily replaced and the computer has a slot to support a 2.5-inch drive via SATA 3 interface.
As for connections, we find a Thunderbolt 4 port, four USB Type-A 3.0, a 3.5mm jack for microphone, another 3.5mm jack for headphones, an HDMI 2.0, an RJ45 port for Gigabit Ethernet , a DisplayPort and the obvious connector for power. For wireless connections there is an AX201 module from Intel that provides Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Other characteristics of the fourth generation of the CoreBox is that it is capable of supporting three simultaneous displays running at 4K resolution and its power supply is 65 watts. The operating system is Windows 11, but due to the preponderance of Intel components, it may be a Linux-friendly computer.
The fourth generation of the CoreBox can be purchased at Chuwi’s own store at the base price of 448.18 euros. As usual in this type of equipment, obviously we are not dealing with a Core i9 accompanied by an RTX 4090, but if you know what you are buying, it can be very useful. For those interested, the brand has also marketed equipment with a similar profile with AMD’s Ryzen technology.
